In MY house! Feast your eyes..... Kappa k-26 in chrome.

Finally received all the parts last weekend and couldn't WAIT to put it together! Super HUGE thanks to RetroBMX for the cranks and building the wheels for me. The guy can build wheels straight as an arrow with his eyes closed, one hand tied behind his back walking across hot coals.

Ever since I came back to BMX after just MTBing for many years, I've wanted to build some kind of single speed 26er. Last fall I had developed a mad hankerin' for a Kappa. I was seriously considering a Firemans or a Sledgehammer. I figured the Fireman's was a little long for my 5'7"or 8" self. Slowly, I began to fall in love with the chrome k-26.

I didn't just want to make it completely retro with the stereotypical parts like new DX's, Ame Tri's, etc... Thinking it would be cool to take advantage of companies manufacturing many new different colored parts, I went with this brown/white/black color scheme. Most of the parts I chose based on weight, I wanted to keep it as low as I could, it just so happened that Shadow Conspiracy makes lots of lightweight quality parts in cool colors.

Here's the breakdown for parts:
Frame: Kappa k-26
Fork: Kappa 26"
Cranks: Profile 180
Chainwheel: Shadow Crow
Chain: Shadow Interlock 2
Pedals: S&M 101
Rims: Halo Freedom
Hubs: FMF
Tires: Kenda K-Rad
Handlebars: from Fireman's (they actually buy them overseas.... those, Redlines and the Volume Sledgehammer bars are the best looking cruiser bars around IMO)
Stem: Shadow Attack
Grips: Shadow Finger Banger
Headset: Cane Creek S-1
Brake: FMF
Brake cable: Animal
Seat: Shadow Penumbra Crow (Byron Anderson)
Seatpost: Shadow Mean Lite
Seatpost Clamp: Shadow Alfred Lite

The bike overall rides SOOooo nice... and it feels just right for size. The cranks took a little while to fit just right. My favorite part, the rims, I found overseas at Chainreactioncycles.com from the UK. I wished there was a decent US distributor for Halo.... But I had no real problems dealing with them, shipping was fast, price wasn't too bad.

Again, HUGE thanks to Paul! (RetroBMX)... If I wasn't sick I'd be out riding right now...

KAPPA ROCKS!

I can't wait to test ride it. (Talk about putting my wheels to the test! If they can hold me, they'll hold up to Pete for sure!)

Anyway, way cool build. Buzz would have to mention the seats....sorry guys, still not available. But he has a point, a brown leather RetroBMX seat would good on that bike...

Hopefully I'll be able to get some riding in this weekend. I didn't even think of bringing it to Rockford... I spose, why not?!
