I'm never a fan of anything not full Chromoly. But then you have to do something to keep that price down. If you're on a budget, I think it'd be a fun crusin ride. Otherwise - I'd say build yerself up a Firemans Texas Cruiser.
Or find an old MTB cheap & do what I did:

This is my MTB I got in College. As I had most of the parts, I was able to do this for about $100. Fork off eBay & some extra bits needed. It's a fun ride.

Whoa, I just clicked your link Crisco - last I'd checked teh Sledgehammer WASN'T full Chromoly. They seem to have changed that.
That def. changes my opinion of it. I say go for it!

I've been thinking of one as well. Here are some better color pics from the Danscomp web site.

I like 'em! Great looking bikes. I got no problem with 26" wheels, but I'm big and dumb lookin', so what do I know.

Criscobath
Me too. 6ft. 3in. tall. I also like the 22" tt.
scottTowne
They are really cool, I've seen them in person. I don't think you could beat one for the price as a cruiser, curb-jumper, dirt digger.
BUB
If they're all-crmo now, maybe I'll go with a Sledgehammer.

That GT is soooooper rad.
Tummler415
Sledgehammers ride pretty nice.
My neighbor has a green one.
26" & 24" bikes do NOT look big & dumb, sorry.
They are fun as h*ll and a blast to ride.

As far as a new school cruiser goes, that's a pretty nice one for all around cruising/thrashin' for sure.

...or you could just get the new OM
Criscobath
I emailed about color choices and they posted a link on the front page. Nice to get a response in less than a week from a BMX company. Not the norm these days.

I just got a black one recently and its way cool to ride and it looks pretty trick as well. But I will probably be selling it real soon as I have decided to get back into racing so I will be getting a 24". Would love to keep the Sledge but I can't afford both so you might see it in the classifieds real soon.
Capt. Nemo
Why not race on the 26"? I race my '04 OM once in awhile just to mix things up a bit. REAL stable on the track.
Criscobath
I got one.
Elvis
And what, prithee, is your level of joy regarding this purchase?
Criscobath
My joy is ten fold. Especially since I found such bike, used, a mere 2 miles from my domicile. Indeed! Only $220. Double Indeed!!

My new toy has welds befitting the finest steed...(ok, I have got to stop typing like this)

It's very cool. Great welds. It's beefy, but not heavy. It needs some cleaning and a new seat. The weld quality on the cranks is a little boogery. Mine has a set of S&M black bars and ODI Yeti grips. The Demolition stems is a very cool item. It has a really nice finish on my all black one. Overall, I'm impressed.

I'll post pics after I get it all cleaned up on Wednesday. I've only taken it for a quick spin around the block on under inflated tires, but so far I'm very impressed. It rolls better than my O4 OM. I might have time to take it on some trails this weekend for a full report...not that I know what I'm talking about.
wds
Very cool! Get some pics of it in action.
And don't forget to take it off some sweet jumps.

Tummler415
I run a Demolition stem on my Floval and it never slips and looks cool as hell all matte-black finish, etc.

Congrats on your new ride...
tread
I just ordered a blue one.
TOMMY2WHEEL
I seen one yesturday at ALBE'S. It was great. Clean welds on the frame. I should have taken it for a test ride, but I knew I would end up taking it home if I did. Congrats on anyone getting one.
agentheinz
I thought about it myself. Ended up going the spendy route on a Shadow Invisible:Man.

But I sure wouldn't count the Sledge out. They are nice.

Only thing is, even though it's set up OK stock, it's kinda like a blank canvas.

I wouldn't be able to leave the thing alone!

Amen, I'm looking for new wheels/hubs/tires for my 20Forty already. I KNOW these lil' fellas will tweak when I land hard.
Criscobath
I rode mine to and from my second job tonight. It flat out hauls ace. I know what you mean about the blank canvas. Have you taken a look at the cool demolition parts colors? I guess Volume and Demolition are the same company.

I've only ridden it twice now and I already like it loads better than my 04 OM. I wasn't expecting that.
BUB
I think I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on this. Is the rear hub flip-flop (assuming its the stock wheel)? Could I run an Odyssey 13t freewheel?
Secret Spin
I got my wife the '07 OM Flyer. She signed up ABA and is racing it. She loves it. And myself and everyone at the track that rode it says that it's right on.
Jamal Spelling
I like my 04 Flyer more than the Sledge. But stock, I guess the Sledge rode better. The only thing I did was swap the bars on both. Ron C bars on the OM, rides killer. Then put Ron C bars on the Sledge, hate it. Probabaly gonna go back to the stock bars on the Sledge. BTW, Crisco, did you have a gnarly brake squeel prob on the Sledge? So, I like the 04 OM better with the Ron C bars and dig the stock setup on the Sledge.
Jamal Spelling
Is that the stock stem on the 07?
I hope Kenda makes those tires available, so far only stock issue on the 07- Nothing on the website, at least Atomlabs has the black Comp lll style for now. Still pondering a set or two.

Jamal, I do have the deaded brake sqeel from hell. My Sledge has S&M bars. They're nice and wide. They feel like they were meant for the bike. I guess that's why the original owner swapped them out.
Capt. Nemo
Jamal, your answer for the OM tires can be found on this thread.

100% stock...the stem is plenty nicer than i thought it would be for a complete SE.

I finally got a few things changed out on it. I am still going to change out a few other items but here she is.

Criscobath
Very nice!

Give us the rundown of parts swapped.
tread
So far I've changed the gearing to a 16/33, replaced the pedals with some Snafu's, Odyssey seat clamp, Dia-Comp two finger brake lever and added the S&M XLT stem with Shadow bar ends and some old school checkered Flite doughnuts.
gptrash
Man I want one of these!
Criscobath
Maybe we can work a deal...
BUB
You* can ride vert on it too!

The traildigger 26" is cool too. It is available in 24" also:

They look pretty good even though I'm not a fan of freestyle bikes. My local shop carries them. They are heavy too and the graphics are a little mutch but they look and feel cool. I like 26" bikes. 20" is too small!

Has anyonr seen the new Sledgehammer Z06? It uses Japanese 4130 Sanko tubing throughout. There are pictures on their website.

Here's my "sledgehammer" with a few changes :

http://bikepics.com/pictures/1183535/

Shadow Conspiracy 33T Chainwheel (titanium color)
15T AC freewheel
Shadow bar ends
Odyssey linear cable
2.2 K-rad up front
Snap stem (black/titanium)

Rides sweeeeeeet !!!

Its up for sale as the Mrs says something has to go. angry.gif
Z06
I just recently got 2008 Z06, and is it sweet!!! Only 50 made this year. The Sanko double butted tubing make the Sledge much lighter. The Demolition parts were a nice upgrade. I swapped stock Bronson bars for S&M Grand Slam for an even roomier cockpit, I'm 6'4". The lame 1.5 Kenda's (BURNT EM) swapped for a Holy Roller 2.4 "front", and Halo Twin Rail 2.2 Rear. A few more swaps later, maybe... My love for this ride describes as follows.

Like a fine single malt scotch, there aren't enough O's in smooooth!

I noticed some of you Sledge owners swapped out seat clamp. Being brazed on how much pounding did it take to remove?
Faust Wurstkotzenhauser
Let's see some Z06 pics please... I've been interested in these bikes since they were announced
Z06
I'll work on posting some new pic's on this thread. I have it set up a little different now It may take me awhile I lag in the tech. dept. but am learning. Meanwhile I was able to post one pic at Visit BMX museum

That's a really nice looking bike!

Awesome Z06!

Here's the most recent picture of my Sledgehammer (New Set of wheels are next - Profile Hubs w/ Sun Rhyno Lites)

I like my Sledger a lot. However, I haven't ridden it in a while since my cousin barrowed it to ride trails w/ his son.

Come to think of it, that's one of the things I really like about the Sledger. My 400 lb. brother rode it for a while, my cousin currently has it, and I haven't for one moment worried about it braking or getting damaged. It's built pretty strong.
