Hey Fellas...I'm new here, but I've been checkin' the site out for a couple months and this place is amazing. Some of the bikes I've been seein' are absolutely incredible, not to mention (and not to be a pud here.) the people that post here is just crazy.
Anyways, I raced in Oklahoma back in the early 80's, I'd say my best bet would be 81 or 82 to 84. I know...not that long, but damn it was fun.
I found out they have a couple of local tracks here, and got kinda excited about having my 4 yr old son give it a go. So I bought him a mini ripper, and figured what the hell, and I bought myself a Floval. I know growin' up I wanted a PK so bad, but ended up with a Kuwi. So now 20 somethin' years later I finally got my SE, and man I dig it. Gonna give racing a try again too. My wife thinks I'm crazy and who knows she may be right, by the looks of these tracks now....WOW!
Just wanted to show my ride off, and see what you guys think. Also, I need some input on my helmet here. Can some of you SE gurus tell me if this looks like the right colors for the helmet? I did it myself, just wanna see if I'm on track here. I posted a question about SE helmets on another site, but didn't get any responses, so I thought I could try here. And if someone by chance has any of the stickers that would go with it, and would be willin' to part with some, it would be greatly appreciated, just let me know what you want for 'em.

Welcome! Hey where are you from In Iowa? I'm in Oskaloosa, I raced in the early 80's as well... And I am a total SE freak. Maybe we could hook up for some riding and/or racing sometime. I've got my jersey, need to get a helmet to fit my fat head... Only have my Torker built, none of my SE's yet...
I have 4 Quadangles, a 1999 American made aluminum frame, a 2004 aluminum frame, and a 24" Supercross made cruiser. Also bought the new retro looptail 2007 frame. My Torker was SE built, and I also own a 2004 P.K. Ripper, and 1991 SE Assassin.
From the looks of your Floval, I might need to pick one of those up too!!!

Welcome. Another SE nut here. New school and Old school. Although the retro's have taking up alot of my spending money lately.
Great job on the Floval. I like the brown/gold parts.
Two of my kids race with me, and I tell ya, there ain't nothin' better then spendin' a day at the track with the family.
Post some pics once you hit the track.

Welcome to the site. Nice Floval you have there. I just noticed the old school decal on the downtube...Very cool.
What king of seatpost clamp are you using? Is it a 1 1/4"?

Hey Tony....The seatpost clamp is a Shadow. It's a 1 1/8 clamp that I machined out to 1 1/4. Worked out pretty good, you cant even tell from the top that it's been machined. I couldn't find a brown one in 1 1/4, so I had to solve the problem myself. If ya wanted one, I'm sure I could help ya out, just let me know and we'll work on it.
Sprinter...I live in Council Bluffs, pretty far away from Oskaloosa isn't it?

Nice bikes.
Man those tires are skinny on that mini!
What part of Okla. are you from? I grew up in Enid Ok. and raced from 75-80ish.

Oskaloosa is about 40 minutes SE from Des Moines. About 3 hours I'm guessing... Still maybe some weekend I could toss a bike in the car and make a road trip old school style...
As for your helmet, looks good to me, hard to tell from a pic sometimes, but I like it!

Az...I grew up in choctaw, then I moved to Colorado when I was 17. And yeah those are some skinny tires, there are 18 x 1's..little boogers.
Yeah sprinter, make a trip. Grizz who I've seen post on here is the TO, and he's done a fantastic job on the two local tracks here.

The helmet and the bikes look great! Nice to have another SE nut in the house.
I didn't do any perfect color matching, but your helmet looks close to the old school and new school ones I made as well.
You may want to do a search on "SE helmet", FLBMXCOP was the one who inspired me with his helmet projects.
Good luck at the track - wear plenty of armor!

Thought so I bought a brown Animal clamp and thought about doing that but it doesn't look like it has enough to machine out. Thanks for the offer to machine up a Shadow clamp. I may take you up on it. I will let you know.

Great looking bike. I have been looking at one of those to get back out on the track this year.
I am curious - SE site shows the MSRP at $450. What are people paying for the '07's in reality?

Bob...Your and cops helmets are the ones I'm using to try and copy. Although I did do a search after your suggestion, and I saw where cop said he used a metal flake brown. Is that what you used also? I've got a set of camo pads and one of the big wing decals for the helmet ordered, I can't wait to get 'em. I did find out that some dude here in Omaha has a whole wharehouse full of vintage bmx stuff and I gave him a call and he said he thinks he has all the stickers I need to finish the helmet, so I'm suppose to call him back today so see if he can hook me up.
Springer...Wow, I dig the black and gold. I would love to do a p pk in that one of these days. Nah, can't make it to Rockford. I'm hopin' next year though.
Tony...Yeah dude, just let me know. I looked at the animal and it almost looks like it actually has more meat on it than the shadow. I think I had somethin' like .067" left all the way around when I was done machining. So the animal might end up being more.
Chris...I think I paid about 390 for mine. You wont regret it dude, it's a great bike.

SE helmets need to have wings , Iron Cross's , bullet hole stickers , & live snakes kept in them , along with the basic blue brown paint combo.
"Blend in by standing out" was the motto back when SE introduced cammo stuff back then, keep up the tradition.
Trosperparkbmxer: In the picture of your 07 Floval it looks like you have installed a 110V AC power outlet in the rear wheel , hows that working out for you ?
I've been looking at wireless transmission of power from Tesla's work for many years now , but have yet to get any substantial current out of my setups , a working AC outlet on a Bike would sure beat using the old rolling dynamo friction style generators , any tips for the modification ?

About a year ago I started working with Stu at HRP and told him what I was thinking. He is a true magician at what he does, he gave me a couple options and that is what I decided on. Check him out at www.HRPDesigns.com STU ROCKS

The plate that is on the floval is from
www.apexbmx.com and the other plate is from another place, but you don't want one of those...trust me..junk. You could probably have Gino make ya something to
www.bigwheelbmx.com I saw some of his plates at the track the other night, and they looked awesome. As far as the decal goes, from your pm. I got it off of evilbay. Took me forever to find it, and it's pretty discolored, so I actually want to get a better one.
I'm in the process of changing the wheels and someother stuff on the floval that I'm not happy with, so when I get the parts (which I hope is next week) I'll post 'em up .....got the helmet done to.

I just ordered a plate from Troy at Apex.
He seems easy to deal with.
Thanks for the help guys.
I think I am going to switch my seat to brown and the grips too for starters...then I'll go from there. You know the routine!!!! Why can't we just leave these bikes alone!!! HA!

Yeah...He seems like a good guy, and the plates I ordered were great. I wish a guy didn't have to order a 6 plate minimum from HRP, becouse I dig pauls plate, and a couple of others from HRP's site...Oh well! Just talked to JR's and my parts should be here Wed. from them and Danscomp...I'll get 'em on and then have you guys tell me what ya think.
