I'm looking through the Dec. 06 issue of RideBMX UK edition, and see on page 64 of the InterBike captions - a photo of an Oakley 1, with the wheel "O". The caption reads: "Oakley may have a multi-million dollar set-up, techno glass lenses and an NBA accreditied basketball court, but the best thing I saw was this - The Retro Grip."

Does anyone know anything about this? I'll e-mail Oakley, but if they haven't "unveiled it", I'm sure they won't give anything up.

this was discussed in a past thread but I don't recall any further details other than the sneak peak.

I thought the result was... that it was actually an old grip, just on display at Interbike, NOT a new product.
Evan
What sprinter said, merely an OG grip on display at InterBike to show the roots of the company.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Oakley makes a crapton more money making $300 sunglasses than $5 bike grips. The Oakley grip program will never return.

Roots...you mean like this?
Evan
Now, that's just too cool!

I know that Oakley makes $$ glasses, but they also make $9 lanyards. In a company as large as Oakley, grips would just fall ito a completely new and different department. I'm not saying that they are or that they should do grips. If any company to try it, Oakley has the cash, resources and heritage to make some more money, and what big company doesn't want to make more money? BMX isn't the only place they'd cash in on. Think of how many other sports use grips like BMX: Mt. Bikes, motocross, motorcycle, ATV, watercrafts, etc. - they could even go into grips for categories completely different than grips for handlebars. I think Oakley should hire me!!

Oh, how sad. Those grips are locked in a cage and will never be allowed to come out and play.
Maurice Meyer
They need a picture of "The Duke" in there.

"Oh, how sad. Those grips are locked in a cage and will never be allowed to come out and play." Don't forget the suspenders in there too! lol.
