Any of you guys that ordered a looptail Quad off Retrodave heard anything??
I ordered a Retro Jersey off him on September 7th (and paid up front) and have not recieved it yet and was wondering if this is his normal service?
Oh and before the haters start I have emailed, PM'd and listened to different excuses and waited and waited so was just wondering if anyone else has gotten what they ordered from him?
Thanks

He was supposed to have a looptail Quad for me, but I didn't have the cash when we talked about it. Since I've had the cash, I tried e-mail after e-mail with no reply. I got tired of waiting and placed an order with Dan's Comp Saturday night. My frame arrived yesterday. I wasn't going to wait until they were sold out everywhere and hope he still had one for me.
I ordered an aluminum 2004 Team Quadangle from RetroDave about a year or so ago, and had it within a few days, he was on top of everything.

Kind of odd that people are waiting all this time to get their looptail quads from retrodave..So my buddy in TN owns a shop and decides to order a few of these retro frames just a short time ago, his customers already have them built up..He also got numbers 14 and 15. Guess when your a shop, and you actually pay for what you order there is no problems at all.

Here's the deali-o:
Retro Dave had approx 18 Quad Loop frames on order through Streits Schwinn.
Retro Dave no longer works at Streits Schwinn.
Streits Schwinn cancelled 12 frames. They only wanted 6.
All of our frames were sent out within a few days of eachother. They should have them any day by now. But I don't work in the shipping/warehouse department. If Streits does not have them yet, they should call an inside rep to check on the shipping status.
Hope all is clear. Over and out.

I called DJ at the bike shop yesterday, they have not recieved there frames. Id say this all goes back to SE and them not taking care of the guys who should be a priority. I dont really think it had anything to do with payment.......Anyone that has questions call the shop and talk to DJ all I can say.

Greg Sounds like a little favoritism going on. I ordered 10 retro frames right after the bike show in Sept. and we are one of S/E`s largest dealers and we PAY ON TIME! and we were told the frames were going out in order of who ordered first! This is very upsetting to me since I have ten frames sold and guys waiting. Sorry to those of you waiting but I have not canceled any of my orders in fact I have added to it. We have 4 stores in AZ. so I can still order 5 more if any of you guys still want one. I also have 10 PK Ripper retros on order if any of you guys don`t have an S/E dealer by you. I can sell the frames but not complete bike as the PK is coming either way.

If I remember correctly, word started leaking out in August about the retro Quad. That's when I had my SE dealer inquire about them. At that point, SE didn't even have a part # or pricing available yet, but my guy said "I want 'em, put me down for 3." He also bugged his rep on an almost weekly basis to find out the status of his order. Maybe that's why he was one of the first to get the Quad, and will be the first to have the NEXT retro project.
I believe it may have been easier for SE to service the smaller orders with the innitial 50 pcs than allocate parts of the big orders in order to make sure the smaller orders were filled first.
Between retrodave and 1azbikeman, over HALF of the first 50 would have been taken.
I don't believe anyone should complain until ALL the frames have shipped, and someone got shorted.
But, hey I've got mine already, so it's easy for me to say.

1azbikeman,
Contact your SE sales rep or an inside sales guy (speak to Frank). Keep in mind that I do NOT work in sales. And I do NOT work in shipping. I am the Brand Manager, the Product Manager, the Team Manager, and the Marketing Manager. Sorry, but I cannot control everything.
FYI- Dan's Comp has been a dealer for alsmost a year. The first round of stuff they bought was clos-out '05 stuff. And that stuff was never put in their catalog, so most of you weren't aware that they were carrying SE goods and already a dealer.
So if Retro Dave & Streitts would have stuck with their original 18 Quad Loop frame order, then I am sure I would have heard other people complaining that Dan's Comp didn't get theirs.
I'll say it again: This frame has not been avaialible for 25 years. What's another month or so?
Todd Lyons
Feb 21 2007, 11:29 AM
Another thing to note: There is always a little bit of "favoritism" in the real world. We had allowed Retro Dave/Streitts to order 18 Quad Loop frames when we limited most all other shops to five. (but as you know, Streitts has cut the order to 6)
I didn't hear anyone complaining about that "favoritism"...

Todd I am not upset at you. I am just venting that I have not gotten any frames and just heard that someone who just ordered recently has gotten them. I have talked to the guys at the sales desk and they keep telling me that they are going out to the first dealers who ordered them. By the way we have been an S/E dealer since the day Fuji reissued the brand. I have tried not too bug the inside sales guys since I am sure they are tired of fielding calls about the frames but I guess thats what I will have to do. The squeaky wheel gets the oil or something like that! By the way I have been meaning to e-mail you the new Wildman is really nice great bike for the money. Keep up the good work and get those sales guys to get us our frames!

Why would anyone complain? The frames aren't even sold out!
Todd, what some people are having a hard time understanding is why the frames showed up at places like Dan's and Albe's (a NON SE dealer) before showing up at the doorsteps of those who made financial commitments 5+ months ago.
I'm not busting on you Todd, I don't deny that you are up to your eyeballs in work and doing the very best you can to provide what information you can. I have no doubt that you want every person that PRE-ordered to get their frame immediately. I understand that you do not control the other areas of the SE company and I applaud you for continuing to post in these threads.
Having said that - prepaid customers should have come before Dan's, Albe's, etc....
Just my opinion.
EDIT: And I realize that more than 50 frames were pre-ordered, so SE could not possibly supply everyone from the first shipment, but all 50 of those should have gone to people that paid in advance.

Hi Guys,
I want to clarify that my order that Greg was referring to was not "recent." It was placed last fall.
The point being made is that my order was placed after the now MIA Retrodave was seen on here taking orders.

Feb 21 2007, 01:51 PM
Keep-it-warm, just because you paid an SE dealer in advance, doesn't mean said dealer paid SE in advance. If you had orderd direct from SE, I could understand your point.
What I do understand is your frustration.
SE didn't screw you, but I believe someone else MIGHT have. Time will tell.

Capt nemo you have a point about payment time frame. I am trying to keep my distance from posting because It just feeds the fire. To answer the question on who was first with there foot in the door on this project I am going to say Retro dave. Dave and TL had a pretty good communication level from the begining, Dave even was called RETROTEASE at one point which I found kind of funny. Dave so far has been a standup guy with me kept in full contact with me very appologetic offering a refund if I wanted one No bs just simply said he has not recieved the frames yet and doesnt know why. Even gave me the # for the bike shop and told me to talk to DJ which I dont feel the need. It sucks that albes which doesnt even post any SE stuff for sale on there website, and DANS COMP whome I have delt with for 12 years since we have no bike shop in my county All I have seen them selling is jerseys
no PK frames or completes no Quad frames or Landing gear forks but right in line for the retro frame. Hats off to you TL I am one for just sitting in the corner watching others post like this I am glad you have stuck with it and posted all the info you can to help . I hope the frames get to where they are going, And I hope to find the only box from SE bikes that I will ever have on my door step soon. Please dont take offense to what I have typed These are my thoughts and i am stickin to it.
Dave come back man dont let this get to you

Thanks for thr props "1azbikeman" and "Keep it Warm." I think you guys both understand where I am coming from.
On a related note:
I have discussed with the inside sales guys about Streit's order. A couple of weeks ago or so when they cut their order from 18 to 6, the computer system logged in that date as their order date. So they did not get any of the first 50. And that's why.
Nothing "on purpose." No "human error." That's just the way the computer system is set up. Sorry 'bout that. But that's the deali-o.
