Does Camponola still make BMX components? If not, where can you get some? Ebay does not seem to have anything.
velocidad
simple answer is no. google "campagnolo bmx"

There was a set of NOS Campy BMX pedals that ended on Ebay last week.
Cook Bros Seeker
Thanks. I'm building a Cook Bros and trying to recreate the bike I had; I remember it had Campy cranks and hubs. It looks like a long-shot though.
DAN
Campy cranks and hubs should only be a good chunk of money away. Spelling may be the issue. Campagnolo. There is always a steady supply of cranks and hubs on Ebay. If you are looking for a set of Campy BMX cranks I think American Cyclery is San Francisco has a set for some obscene amount if money. Chances are you just need a set of regular 70s/early 80's era Strada cranks in silver ano. They should be easy to get.
stidds
You can still get Campagnolo equipment quite easily, however as Dan said it does cost a good chunk of money. You can even still find NOS campagnolo items. I built a Roger DeCoster recently that had NOS Campagnolo SR Cranks, Chainring, and Crank Dust Caps. Believe me they cost a pretty packet.

Here is a picture of the DeCoster build, it has 95% NOS components.

Keep_It_Warm
yea, I think he's talking about BMX stuff that Campy did....road bike cranks/hubs are a dime a dozen....but are rarely ever cheap.
Cook Bros Seeker
So I can use Campy Strada cranks as an alternative to Campy BMX cranks?
AndyDiamond
It depends on the flavour of Campy stuff as to the price you pay.

The 'Record' stuff is a bit cheaper.

With hubs you need to check the axle lengths - they made need converting if they are set up for 10speed track bikes etc.

I was lucky enough to pick up this very nice set of used low flange 36 hole Record hubs laced to 24" Araya 7Xs for $250.

If it is a Campy love in....

These are mine which I've had since about 83...great quality hub and I'm pretty sure mine are BMX specific. From memory they did a BMX range in a limited number of anodised colours...

Cook Bros Seeker
Are hubs for sale?
84profile
Sorry cook bros. seeker, too much sentimental value in these little fella's....
AndyDiamond
Pretty sure Campy only did gold and blue as anno colours (for BMX) for the cranks and hubs, and the addition of black for the pedals (As well as silver for all parts).

Now, finding a set of high flange Campy BMX hubs in blue or gold would be a major score.

Sweet Andy! Any chance of blowing the hubs up in the ad? I don't think that the High Flange hubs were BMX specific, could be wrong.
AndyDiamond
yeah - I'll put up a larger scan.

The ad does say BMX hubs available in high and small flange....
Cook Bros Seeker
Can you use non-BMX specific Campy cranks for a BMX bike? For example, I saw the following on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...:MEWA:IT&ih=009

Can you simply remove the dual chainwheel and put on a single chainwheel? Will the spindle of a bmx BB fit the crankarm?
Frostie
As Stidds said the stuff is out there, but you need to pay for it. Most stuff is roadie or track biased, but you can get all parts needed to convert spindles etc to the lengths needed for BMX applications, they too are still expensive though!!

I have a few pairs of Tipo hubs and also a pair of C Record Pista track hubs that were built with chrome 7x's, just need to strip down, clean up and rebuild!!

84profile
Whoa frosty they are slick...just be careful if you are planning to ride on these....

Cook Brothers Seeker....you can most definitely use Campy Road (Strada) cranks or Track (Pista) cranks for your build. Campy Road cranks are set up to accept two chainrings, but for you build, you would obviously only use one chainring. They are like any other crank arm in that they accept a standard 4-sided tapered spindle.

My recommendation would be Campy Strada cranks because it gives you more flexibility when it comes time for chain alignment because you have the option of using either of the two locations for chainring positioning. Campy Pistas will work too. If you opt for them, I would assume that you would want Campy Pista chainring bolts as well...these can be quite hard to find and are NOT cheap, so look for a Pista set that is complete (crank arms, chain ring, and chainring bolts).

The "style" you want is similar this - CLICK HERE

Campagnolo cranks facts:
Date stampings are on the back of both crank arms.
Diamond=73 to 79
Circle=80s
Square=90s
No Stamping=Pre 73

The number inside the above-mentioned shape gives you the second digit. (Example: 6 inside the circle=1986)
--------------------------------------------------
Chain rings may or may not be similarly date stamped.
--------------------------------------------------
ALL Campy chain rings were spaced 144bcd from 1978-1985.
--------------------------------------------------
Shortest Pista/Strada crank was 165mm
--------------------------------------------------
A Campy crankset with 151 BCD is a pre-68 crankset.
--------------------------------------------------
The Campy (806) BMX crankset is a combination of Strada crankarm with a Pista style spider.
--------------------------------------------------
Super/Nuovo Record crankarms are the same. The difference is in the chainrings.
--------------------------------------------------
The major difference between Campy Track and Road cranks is:
Track cranks (Pista) are made for a single 1/8" chain rings.
Road cranks (Strada) are made to run two 3/32" chain rings.
--------------------------------------------------
Campy Track cranks still have a 144 bcd.

Thanks for all that info. I'll put it good use.
Keep_It_Warm
It's a lot to take in at one time. It took me a WHILE to understand the differences and names and numbers.

But there are many people here who are happy to help.
AndyDiamond
good info there.
Cook Bros Seeker
Assuming I buy the following cranks: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120122435703&rd=1&rd=1
and have euro BB (Cook Bros frame); what sealed BB should I use?

Thanks.
Keep_It_Warm
those are right up your alley! 175 length and dated 1981. cool.

I'm not the best person to ask regarding a euro bb, maybe someone else will chime in with good info.

The four-sided, tapered spindle you'll need shouldn't be any shorter than about 127mm or else you may have clearance issues between your crank arms and the rear of the frame as the cranks go around.

Also: Get the type of spindle where the crank arm bolts THREAD INTO the end of the spindle. DO NOT GET the kind of spindle that has the threads protruding from the ends.

So who can recommend a BB to use?
Frostie
84 profile,

I have seen that article, no probs the wheels I'm building will not be ridden, or at least in anger anyway!!

Cheers

Paul

I didn't get those annodized Campy cranks. I wasn't willing to go into the $300s for them when the non-annodized ones are the same and much cheaper.
AndyDiamond
Or you could try for anno Dura Ace cranks - they have a similar look and era to the Campy cranks but still command decent prices.

I'm looking for a drive side EX600 in silver if anyone has one.
Cook Bros Seeker
Dura Ace are big money also. I do look out for them though.
DAN
The ano Campy stuff has always been very low on my list of Campy pieces. The ano is a weird color and really doesn't match much of anything. CBR stuff least of all. It holds value only as a novelty IMHO. The earlier stuff always adds a touch of euro chic to any build. Stay away from the Pista (big $$$) and get yourself some nice Strada's. Good luck and post some pics of the project if you get a chance.

A Bullseye euro BB would be trick by the way.
steef
A word of caution with Campy cranks... their taper on the spindles differs from the "standard" Japanese taper. If it's not a rider; no worries.
