i've been thinking about getting myself some painting equipment for home use. i already have a compressor (and a few different ones at my disposal). for the guys who are familiar, what do you recommend for a gun and paint that is well suited for bikes? both durability and good appearance, for the paint.

thanks -chris

The more money you spend the better the gun but you need to know what kind of paint you`re going to be spraying. That can make a difference in the gun to use. The paint that I use calls for a DeVibliss GTI. It works great but I`ll prefer to use the Sata guns. They`re great for base clear jobs.

lou,
i bought that yellow '83 GT from you (w/ partial sanded dropouts). since i have that as reference, what paint/gun did you use on that?

I use a 4 year Sata gun. I forget the model # but the new version is the Sata 2000. They about $450-$500. I`m spraying Dupont Imron 5000 urethane. It`s good thick stuff. I throw in some exrta reducer to let it lay out slick. Also depending the weather determends how it lays out too.
Don`t thin thepaint too much because then it won`t cover, you`ll get shadows on the welds.
