I have these Hutch Pedals and as you can see in the picture, the chrome is lifting and peeling. Do I go ahead and take these to get rechromed? or do I leave them alone and just clean them up?
The cages are in great shape, mostly because the guy who owned them used a set of DK cages instead. Other than the chrome the pedals are in very good condition.
I'm not sure what I am going to do with these yet, but I know they are worth restoring.

So ,Yes they need a rechrome to be mint looks like the spindles need some love too. You need to trade me for some NOS skyway pedals or some NOS KKT lightening pedals you name the color?? SK

Nice pedals. I'd use a toothbrush and some citrus cleaner to clean them as well as I could and remove the major flakes, and leave it at that. But if rechroming's your thing, they're definitely worth it. Or maybe it's possible to strip the chrome and polish the aluminum underneath?

I was actually thinking about polishing the aluminum - that maybe the route I take.

I say powdercoat the pedal bodies. Black bodies with chrome cages look great.

I think literally gold plating them would be cool. Um, you CAN take off the chrome and polish what is beneath. You COULD do that. If they were mine? I would take the chrome off gently and go the whole way with a pedal resto. I saw a pair of those go for 900 bucks. They have transended the fact that they are pedals and are now considered jewelry. Take good care of them, they don't grow on trees.

Or you could sell them to me as is for like 50 bucks. Okay $75, but I'm not going any higher than $1,600.00
