there was a thread here once about the best way to position new decals. Something about using a dishsoap/water solution and letting them sit.
Anyone tried this? Any tips or step-by-step tips?

yeah, it works. A drop of dish soap in a small bowl of water is what I used. Slide the decal through the water and position it on the frame. Rub the water and air bubbles out from between the frame and the decal and apply pressure. The corners didn't stick down immediately, but when it dries a little they will. Also, after it dries a little, you can rub out more of the bubbles.

oh yeah, rub from the center out toward the edges.

I used windex and it appears to work better than soap and water. First spray your fingers and then the decals before you take them off of the paper. Then spray the decal itself and apply to the frame. As above work the decals as the windex dries and continue to rub down until the decal sticks.

yeah man , windowlene or windex , a slight smear NOT a full drippin washout ! or you will be there for an hour hoping it will dry .
especially if you're doing landing gears on a set of forks !!!
you just need enough to slide them babys into place and get rid of the air bubbles .
TIP : if the stickers dont stick too well after you apply them ....hit them with "ERR" hairdryer , it joggs the glue memory and they all sweet !

cool, seems weird that a slippery substance would help a stickery substance, but I sure appreciate all the advice. And so will my prize.
Thanks ya'll!

I use geo tape, its like a pin stripe tape. I use it to mark exactly where I want the decals to go after careful measuring and all that. Then I use a product called "Sticker On" thats distributed by Parker Yamaha for use in applying those giant decal sets on waverunners. Its basically the same procedure as the dishsoap/windex method. Good luck.
