Just wondering if anyone has some tips about removing a tuf neck shalf from the stem body? The main fixing bolt for the stem easily unscrews however the shalf is very stubborn and does not want to budge and I don't want to damage the stem getting the shaft out. (trusty rubber hammer and timber technique)...any suggestions...soak in wd40?

The shaft is a press fit into the stem body, which means you need to press it out (using a hydraulic or mechanical press).

Bear in mind, that in doing so, the fit will not be as good, and therefore the joint will not be as strong, once it is pressed back in.

You give it to Velocidad and it comes back separate with a new bolt!

Seriously, here's a couple of threads that might help.

Hmmm, okay, thanks very much for the info...I didn't realise that it was press fit. It is diffinately for a rider, so I think I will stick to with anodised silver, I was just hoping to have it re-anodised in a different colour. But I don't want to dimish it's strength...

You can still get it anodised with the shaft in it!

Interesting, my anodiser says that it can't be done with a steel shalf in place? Have you had it done Mattblack?

a tiny bit of heat might help

I was told the shaft can stay in and it would be no problem.

Might have another chat with the anodiser and see what he says...and thanks V8...I might give that a go on the weekend...
