i have a 85 mongoose expert with the factory alluminum rims. these rims have the holes in between the spokes exposing the colored tire liner.

i'm looking to replace the colored red/blue "tire liners" that are used for the mongoose experts/californias. mine have been fading for a long while.... a few years back i even moved the liner down a spoke so i could see fresh blue.

i've heard about using colored electrical tape, but the OG liner is a clear tape painted blue on one side, red on the other. i can't reproduce that if i tried. i did pick up a roll of yellow tape, although not OG, that would compliment the bikes paint scheme quite well.
any thoughts guys?

You can get colored Mylar foil at art supply stores, and at some hobby shops. It's sold in sheets, so you'll have to cut it into strips, but it will look way better than electrical tape.

PS: they are called Pro Class rims.
Motor City Mongoose
And "Rim Strips".....

Go to Wal Mart and get a Mylar Bow. Like for a gift. Take the staple out and Presto.

I have used the Mylar gift wrap ribbon as well. Just make sure to back up that stuff with a good cloth rim tape like Velox.

wow! you guys are great. i haven't heard anything about these rims or the rim strips before, so what you guys presented here has really answered my question. i'm gonna try to get to wally world and see what i can find.

thanks also for giving me the official names of the rims and strips.
