Can it be done? I have a set of Skyway Graphites with gold flanges. I'd love to get the gold back the way it was...

The primary problem with anodizing an assembled part is that there are steel races, and things in there that can't go into the anodizing tank, or the stripper tanks.

You also have to remove the old anodizing before it can be re-done.

If everything was aluminum, I am sure your could plunk the whole wheel in there and re do them.

But since the gold is a dye that is locked in during the process, I would have to say it is unlikely that much can be done unless you disassemble them.

If you're not looking to do a total original rebuild of the wheels, I would sand down and then polish the flanges, removing the old anodizing, mask them off then do a light spray of the clear gold (or other color) "anodize" spray paint you find in auto parts stores. If done right, it looks amazing.
