Why is it that more often than not, an SE frame didn't have the matching Landing Gear forks? Of the three Quads I've had only one had them and I bought Standing Gears for another. But I remember a lot of PK's and Quads with different forks on them. Is it just me?

Redline and Bottema were a popular option. My first looptail was bought used, the guy that owned was the original owner, and had built it with Redline forks. My Reynolds Quad came with Landing Gear.

My NOS 1998 Quadangle came with Landing Gear, so did my 2004 P.K. Ripper.

Remember that the frames were made for several years before Landing Gear existed. That and even today, there are a lot or people that don't buy forks from their frame manufacturer, even though matching forks exist.

One theory possibly, Landing Gear are heavier than a lot of forks, maybe people wanted lighter forks for racing? I recall seeing more than one P.K. Ripper bitd that had JMC forks, which I thought looked really cool! The floval tubing, and tear drop forks, man that looked trick!

There were a bunch of PKs around BITD but only a few ran Landing Gear, I think that you could buy the old SE frames w/o forks, and Landing Gear were a little pricey. I have owned my PK looptail since 85-86, and I know the guy who bought it new around 82, and he purchased the frame only from a local shop. The bike always had Mongoose "straight " forks on it. Note: the Mongoose straight forks "Hella Sucked" on this bike-way to quick.
So Im in the process now of actually trying to find a decent set of forks for this frame as it is 1 of my current projects, and I may not be running Landing Gear @ all. I just bought a set of vintage Raleigh Rampar forks, they have a really cool OS look too them, So I will see how they look on the frame when they get here.
