ok lets start with what i have and donegt freestyle frame and one mother stuck laidback seatpost
ive tried pulling on the seat everywhich way(broke the seat)
soaked it with penatrating oil for 2 days
put a stick and metal rods to try to get levrage
whacked the hell of the metal rod everywhich way
clamped another frame to the oppisite side of the post tightenned with another seat clamp so 2 frames shared a seat post .(no good)
pried the seat post frame section wider with a screw driver and sprayed more oil
now i filled the post up with oil in the hopes that the oil will penatrate from the bottom up.
beside mashing hacking or heating up the tubes any other suggestions

put the post in a vise. then work the frame back and fourth. thats how i had to do mine. and i used a alot of wd-40

youv'e had a good go by the sound of it... maybe try and get another set of hands involved. try holding the post with an old headstem in your bench vice and try to rotate the frame around the post while someone else whacks the BB shell with a rubber mallet or a lump of soft timber to try and break the rust bond. oh yeah, try diesel instead of neat oil.

Good old elbow grease...lots of patience and a hack saw...I had same problem. Took me about a long time but eventually the seat post collapsed in on itself and I was to pick all the bits out.
RIDE A BIKE
Try to heat the post or the frame tube up with a small hand torch

I used a air powdered die grinder with a rod with a grinding tip on it and ground away a grove in the side and the seatpost collapsed on itself. This requires cutting the seatpost off though. Time and elbow grease is all you need.

Last resort :
Use a pipe wrench on the very bottom of the seatpost. But I recommend it only if clamping it in a bench vise doesn't eventually make it move.

thanks guys for the tips now i will need to get hold of a bench vise and some desil..not ready to mangle the post just yet

i would go with heating the tubes..i had one that was stuck for good...or so i thought...i heated the seat mast tube just for half a min. or so and it came out.also in the process i destroyed the post.

7/8's post....Stick an old stem in the seat post. Tighten the stem bolt to where the wedge grips the inside of the stuck seat post. Then you simply bang the doo doo out of the bottom of the stem.

I heard this from an old guy _ Amonia - somehow seperates two different types of metal. I have not tried it yet but the guy who owns the bike shop here tried and says works great!!!!!

1: Use an old stem and forks. Tighten the stem to the post like you would handle bars, and then use the forks on the stem as leverage to twist..........no workie still?-->

2: If you (or freind) have a LARGE freezer, throw em in there and freeze overnight. Pull em out and wait a few minutes, the frame will thaw first thus expanding first, using my above method with stem and fork........

Heat in side the seat post, then add lots of WD-40 dont use oil because its too thick and will not get around it....

WOW! Certainly lots of theories, methods and opinions on this thread. At least one of them should work for just about any stubborn post! Except mine.

I have the ultimate challenge coming up on a seatpost removal. The knucklehead who tried to removed the post crushed it and broke it off pretty close to the frame.

Any suggestions on this disaster? I figured I'll be able to get it out "somehow" as I have full access to a multi-million dollar machine shop at the company I work for.
My biggest fear is the post apparently expanded a bit when the dude crushed it. Look closely at the top of the frame where the post is coming out. It looks to flare out slightly.

Hi doppelganger I'd say to use a torch and some vicgrips And be very very carefull. When you heat the post put ice on the frame it might work for you

I have a frame with a seatpost stuck in it which is flush with the top of the seat tube. I might try sticking a stem shaft in it, tightened just enough to grab on, and hammer away. Otherwise I'm going to use a sawzall and that scares me a little but might be my last resort.
I had a different frame, a Hutch, that had a stuck seatpost but the seatpost was completely intact. A layback painted steel seatpost. I tried everything and the only thing that worked on that one was soaking it in oil and using a heating torch, two people, and a vise. The frame was fine and the seatpost came out looking like a Twizzler.

If it were me, I would cut the seatpost off flush with the top of the frame tube, so you have a clean opening to put a stem with wedge bolt in there and tighten up. Then bolt a pair of handlebars into the stem. That way you have something to grip and work with, leverage, right now you have nothing.

Keep soaking in a penetrating oil, and occasionally tap the frame tube up and down with a rubber mallet or something. The vibrations actually help break apart the corrosion inside and lets the penetrant get in deeper. If you combine all this with the heat/cold trick, make sure the cold part is the seat tube and the hot part is the frame, not vice versa. The cold will shrink and the heat will expand the metal. Heating the seat post will only make it stuck even tighter.

Hope you get it!

Dude, if the heat doesn't work, you could drill a hole in the bottom bracket big enough for a metal "centerpunch" toll to get through. Then use the centerpunch on the edge of the seatpost to drive it out. You can have the hole either plug welded or you can fill it with silicone sealant to keep out moisture. I believe it would be better than a sawzall. Good luck.

ok the frame and post are at my friends shop he had to get a new sparker cause we couldnt light the welder up..lol..he says he wants to heat it up i,it worked great heating up my 64 chevy ramhorns to get the exhaust bolts out but those are made for heat .so im kinda scared but he is super smart, and a friend ive had since highschool, ive never seen him mess anything up ...except when he put a corvette rear end in a 48 merc and forgot to add gear oil...but that was at least 10 years ago.and its his custom car shop.so if he blows it ill have hik make me a custom gt jr pro freestyle tour out of it.that would be kool..

Thanks for all the suggestions!!

The frame is now in my shop at work. They cut the post flush with the top of the frame to get rid of the crushed part. I like the idea of putting a stem inside BUT the guy who tried to get it out before I bought it hammered away on the post with a punch in the spot where there is a split in the rear of the frame. So the post is crushed inwards a bit not allowing a stem to fit inside. In that exact spot we are going to drill a 1/8" diameter hole thru the post.
They are going to hook a STRONG wire thru the hole and then pull straight up on the wire using some sort of machine. Details to follow......

I always have good luck with PB Blaster for "un sticking" things

Sounds like you ahve a doosie ..let us know how it turns out!
theRuler
did it come out yet?
EXPERTAYLOR
TRY A SMALL PIPE WRENCH ON THE SEAT POST SEE IF U CAN GET IT TO TWIST WITH THAT ???
grub
failing that put the seatpost in the vice (with bike up in the air) and try turning the frame while lifting it
