I did this at work today when I had some free time on the clock, lol. I couldn`t finish it because I had work to do. It`s for a daily rider anyway. I just wanted to clean it up a little. Here are some before and after pictures.

You're working some magic on that one. Looks like it's coming along nicely. I'm looking for a blue one like that.

Lou, looks great. What were you using as a scratch remover and polisher??
lou
Scratch remover wouldn`t help these scratches. I sanded with 4 types of grit sandpaper then did some serious buffing. I can make it look alot better but since it`s going to be for a rider I`m happy with it. The only problem with doing this is that some (but I did all) of the texture gets sanded off. It`s smooth now.

I have a Red Elina Bolt seat that I have been working on. It was in similar shape although the bolts were still about 85% I used the Novus 3 step system on the top and I believe it actually dulled the finish. I was not happy. I have not touched it since.

I did use the Novus on a watch face an it turned out next to perfect though.

What grit of paper did you use?

Looks good. Got some seats I need to work on. Curious about the grit too.

Start with 220 then 320. Just take out the deep stuff then go with 600. That will remove the 220-320 scratches. Finally use a 1200. Thats waht you use so you acn buff. I used a DA (orbital sander, machine). If your going to do it by hand it will take longer. If you use a DA you should use 320 by hand so that the roundness of the seat comes back. Using the DA can make it not smooth. It will be up and down like a bad paved road.

Are you going to put the lightning bolts back on it? If so, I'm curious how you plan to do it.

That seat looks real good

No lightning bolts. if I was I would paint them.

Would media blasting a section do any good to making it "textured " again?
lou
I thought about that. Putting it in the bead blaster to get texture. The factory texture is raised. If you blast it it will do the opposite. If I can get another (or a few more) seats I`ll try other options.
DarrenOz~ It will dull it because you need to go fast when buffing. If you lost total interest in it I`ll take it off your hands for $$. I think these seats are the most comfortable old school seatout there. I need black, red, and blue.
