Has anyone restored and or redone the gold color on a mongoose double stem? It appears to be gold over chrome? Any suggestions would be appreciated....

Thanks

Possibly anodized?

Metal can not be anodized, only aluminum.

I don't know what the gold was, as we all know it didn't last or hold up very well. I've wondered myself for a while, asked a few times about the gold sprays, no reply. I do know that it was not a gold plating like these silly gold bikes you see now.

Any suggestions, what have you done to try and restore that gold color to the stem?

I've seen a black one. Maybe have it powder coated black? Sorry, I know you want a gold one, but I think you just have to get it in good condition. I'm sure it's a plating of some sort. Maybe use gold leaf?
