Aren't Pitbulls made by Odyssey? I think you might be thinking of Bull Dogs. Bull Dogs may have been around in the very very late 80's but I'm not positive. I don't think they are era correct for pre-89 though.

You could go with Nippons, 880/901 combo, Odyssey 2000's, Peregrine FSX-111's...
