I am an auto painter and is going to paint my trickstar with a base/clear coat system.dupont has a lower line of paint its called nyson i believe, the clear and hardener alone is going to cost around $60 than the cost of the paint.it might be better to powder the frame,it not going to cost me a dime thats why i am going to paint it,good luck

Powdercoat it, no question, unless you really want the do-it-yourself BITD look. In that case, be sure not to disassemble anything before painting! Powdercoating looks better and will last much longer.

Thats one reason i am painting my TS to give it the retored like. dont know if powdercoating looks better, have you seen Brew frames? orange peel texture like crazy.i even had a lady from Delaware call me to paint her daughters frame cause she didnt like the orange peel.Yea powdering coat is stronger but how often are you going to race or hit 10 feet air.with the bike,So like me i am not going to ride my bike so the paint will last forever even out in the sun the paint will hold up over 10 years.
