Over the weekend I bought a Kuwahara at an automotive swap meet. On the bottom it has stamped KGB 12 2803. Can someone help I.D. this bike and tell me what is it worth? Bike is straight, has the usual scratches from mounting the rear wheel and needs to be gone over with steel wool. Please help.

Thanks,

John

It's best to post a picture if you can. Also check out my Kuwahara site for more info, have a look into the History section. http://www.dreamgate.ne.jp/kuwahara/

OK, I'll bite. I have two. They are the same frame. I believe they are from 1985. The serial numbers are K5H00901 and K5H00949. I believe they were both red initially. The one in the rear may have had a black fade. Each has a different base coat. One fluorescent green, one orange. The green and orange do not appear to be part of a fade. I got them at a vintage bicycle swap meet, so some misguided individual may have painted them red thinking he could pass them off as ET frames. Dunno what they are, but I bet they are Survivors. See pic.

Hey guys. I know it's been a while since this thread was open. Jamie. I have been to your site and saw the KZ serial breakdown. Sounds good. Would you be able to break down the KGB serial number the earlier reply?

I would guess??

KGB: K - Kuwahara made, GB - not sure???
12: December lot
2803: unit made in the Dec. lot

Any further input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Kyle - your frames look to be Laserlites to me.
