Mr Trickstar
i know we have talked about RL cranks a million times but which 401 should i use on my Trickstar?

Single pinch, wrap around the spindle boss and pedal boss, threaded spindle with reduced diameter section with no dimples, chrome hardware, and loose bearing bb or any sealed bb including tecmatic would be generation correct.
3rd gear
what if I have a dimpled on mine????

I beleive there were 3 threaded spindle designs. The early ones were a threaded sleeve welded onto a splined spindle. The dimple was the weld. I beleive the first ones had one dimple and the second generation had 2 dimples. Around 1984 they changed to a 2 piece sleeve. with the 2 piece sleeve there was no weld dimple but instead a solid weld around the 2 sleeves on the inside. Therefore if your picky enough to worry about a part no one will ever see on your generation correct bikes anything built around 84 - 86 should have a non dimpled threaded spindle.
