Hi guys,

just got an 84 GT frame/forks delivered today.

Unfortunately the right rear drop out is a bit bent

If I got this straightened out in a vice would it weaken the drop out at all?

Also, it would straighten up a bit when I put the rear wheel on but would still be out of whack but....

Advice please.

The chrome on this needs a good clean and I am thinking I should powdercoat it instead of trying to clean it up.

I'm thinking GT yellow or white with the clear GT decals.

Try beating it back.. We use to use a piece of railroad track, seemed to work for us bitd.. PLease keep us updtaed on this

Straighten it out in a vise, no problem.

cool.

OK.

So, what do you think?

Yellow or white?

I haven't seen too many GTs around in the yellow - I reckon that would be cool.
M.Curphy
1) For YELLOW!

I dont think Ive seen one in Yellow myself..

SantaAna,

are those the repro pads and clear-backed stickers from Biagio?
SantaAnaMassachusetts
Yes.
Impact repro padset.
Biagio clear decals.

Thanks - the clear decals look nice.

I have a NORA Cup sticker to add to mine (even though it may be a couple of years later - who cares).

Also, I've had no luck with getting pads from Impact.
Don't know if he's still doin' it.

to straighten back the drop, I use a cut up bit of old inner tube and a larger 16" adjustable wrench - examine the bend and place the wrench stategically and ever so gently work her back into place - constantly checking to make sure she's going right - you don't wanna bend her back and cause waves .... do a blue one, thats a color you rarely see - saw like 2 yellows at Rockford - blaacks were in abundance too ! think blue maybe....

what I wanna ask is how do you fix the gaping bottom or in other words the pinch ... the bottom half of the rear drop out that is widened ?

Cut, bend, weld.........
For a small fee I will set you free.......
