I am looking for some 60-80g stainless double butted spokes. Are these tough to find? The closest thing I have found so far is 14g stainless double butted spokes. Is there a motorcycle like a CR80 that uses spokes this size that would work on a BMX bike? Where or how should I look for these?

Anyone out there?

i doubt anyone makes such a thing. the idea of using a double-butted spoke is to save weight. if you are using spokes that thick weight is obviously not an important issue... i could be wrong.

I've had a couple reliable sources confirm that there was such a thing. I know Asahi made some. Now if I can just locate some.

Anyone know if they are still being made? Would they require any modifications to the hubs?

I tried ordering 12g stainless spokes for my cruiser from Dan's comp, but they were not availabile in the length I needed. But they had plenty for 20" wheels and very reasonable. Stainless, black or chrome.

Why in the world would you want to run 12g spokes? These seem pretty thick and must weigh a ton. Just curious? I have built wheels for many, many years and have never had the need to use such thick spokes. Must hubs will require modifications to use thicker spokes. And then you will surely have hub problems in doing so. We made hubs for a short time several years back at a company I had and using much larger diameter spokes would require a much larger hub.
p.s. Doug e-mail me and I will give you a spoke company's info you can get in touch with.
