If anyone can give me some pointers I would greatly appreciate it!! I have a 1983 GHP that I am redoing. The chrome is pretty good, but chipping in a couple of places. Should I get it rechromed, or just try to touch it up? Will it change the value? I just want it to look like when I bought it back in 83. I ride this bike about 10-12 times a year. What should I do????? Thanks everyone!!!

Can you "touch up" chrome? It's not like paint...once it starts going, it's gone, you know?

Hey loopy, are you related to a retired Marine named Whitey by any chance? There can't be that many GHP restorations underway in CT.

Yes I am tmcm. I heard about you from him. small world huh? Yes, I'm redoing the whole bike. Just want to do it right. After I finish the 83, I'll be doing my sons 92 GHP. Thanks for telling Whitey about CT-Bike. I found all sorts of good stuff!!!

No problem. As for your frame, I guess it would depend how badly it's chipping whether to have it rechromed. Personally, I have never had anything rechromed, but I have a bunch of stuff that I may do when cash allows. I know a guy who has had some Harley parts done at a couple places. Apparently, you get what you pay for. He swears by some place in New Jersey, but very pricey. He's also used a local place in ****ord, but told me the quality was not as good. I guess you need to ask around, I'm sure there's plenty of people on this board who have some actual experience with rechroming, maybe locally.
