I should've know Oddyssey didn't use PAPER stickers on their seatposts, cause mine just bent last night. I didn't even hit that big of a bump, just happened to catch the back of the seat on a moderate through the grass excursion. How do you tell a fake from a real one? I guess this is what I am asking?
I saw a chrome on ebay with a diferent sticker than mine had, larger and orangey looking. The one I bought was not in original packaging as promised, and the sticker looked like the label on their smaller parts, and was PAPER as I stated earlier. That purple/goldish looking logo. Thanks for any help!,,,,OS

Are you looking for a brand name or one that just works? I'm pretty happy with my generic BIG CHEESE chrome layback that I purchased from
www.airbomb.com.

I recently bought one from the LBS and it bent while I was just riding/sitting. I'm not that much heavier than I was BITD so I'm thinking it's a cheap post. I thought the post looked kinda thin so maybe they're just poorly made. Mine had the orange sticker.

I've got one out in the garage circa 1988. I think what ever it is has a logo stamped into it. I'll look after the races tonight.

If the logo contains CrMo, it's the only name brand I am looking for, lol. I'm so sick of all this cheap junk being pawned off as bike parts these days. It's downright dangerous to your life, expecting something to work and it fails just when you actually need it. Still no response from the bogus seller. I already e-mailed Odyssey, and they just kinda went whatever. If it was a Mongoose post, Pacific would be all over them, lol. I just bought a "GT" layback post, but I have no idea if it's junk or not. It's the modern rail clamp design, and is also not stamped as CM, so it's probably crap as well. It goes back maybe 2 inches, and puts my knees about an inch behind the handlebars. Maybe I should just move up to 24" huh? lol.,,,,OS

Smallest size I saw on airbomb was 25.4?,,,,OS
Didn't see big cheese even listed as a brand?

The old Tioga seatposts were fluted. They had a flat piece of metal that went into the tub, made them harder to bend.

Thanks, sent my questions as to brand name, and if he has pics showing it stamped CrMo. Just cause they say so, doesn't make it so, hehe. The last guy said they came in original packing, which when I received it, consisted of a piece of tissue paper and a plastic bag. Once bitten twice shy, you know. Thanks for the link though.,,,,OS

He sent me pics of straight cro mo seatposts. They are stamped only with the cromo stamp and the insertion limit marks.

Well crap, disregard everything I said, unless the company that made this post was brave enough to stamp odyssey on the post, and CrMo. I sanded down the paint, and there it was. Not sure which way to go, unless someone here has a fluted post they'll sell me? Sheez, if I can bend a CrMo seat post without even trying, guess I should buy a mountain bike and forget the skinny posted BMX stuff? Sorry for being an idiot.,,,,OS
Could a fake be that precise?

And yes, I am working on the losing weight part. It's the whole reason I got back into bikes in the first place, lol. I've lost 20 pounds in the last two years, simply by riding once or twice a day.

Stay away from the Wald seatposts. They are not durable.
Anyway, I got a Rod Primo newschool post the other day on my GJS repro. When I ate it and landed chest on the seat the post did not bend. I continued my ride but did not ride again for a few weeks. The next time I went to grab the GJS for a ride, I discovered the seat rails were so tweaked, no wonder it hurt so much. No problem with the post.

This GT rail mount seems to be okay. I have purposely bounced on the seat with all my weight, and it didn't bend yet?
If it only had more rear extension on it.,,,,OS

The one I have is stamped GT Chromo and 22.2. I've had this thing since 88. It was white but I sanded it down to raw so it would match my raw FredZ bars. It's heavy. If you need it let me know.

What type is it? Layback with suppport, one piece layback, or one of those parallel top and bottom with a bend? Is it fluted by chance? Fluted I would say definitely that I need it. Lemme know, or if you can send pics, or even 1 pic will do? Thanks!,,,, OS

ITs - layback (supported) - slantback - drainpipe - or straight ..... I know where there is a stash of fluted chromo HARO posts' straight and slantback - I just never bothered with them since they don't attract much attention, they're also some funky colors, the slants are all like a cantilope color (pinkish melon thing) and the old coot wants $15 a post - everytime I go poking around the shop he trys to pawn them off on me and I tell him they're not to my interest ..... if you need me to snag one let me know ..... just pay for the post and ship, its not far from me so its not like I'd have to trek miles out
