So I've never actually built a bike before but've been riding a pretty nice old school kuwahara since last summer and have been getting sucked into this whole thing. Long story short I saw a NOS skyway street beat frame and bought it with little knowledge of what to do next. I've got frame fork and handlebars but all the hardware I'll be buying serperately. Can anyone point me towards a FAQ for first time builders? I've got all the site's bookmarked for parts but I don't know what will fit etc. I'm a total newb, ugh, Thx for any help

best thought would be to look in the museum section at the top pf the page & see what other people have done with them or

buy the freestylin DVD's from the site & go thru all the old mags & look at all the old ads. Then check the for sale section and give people your money

but seriously, I have done all my builds from old magazines to make it as close to the original bike as I could. sometime it works, sometimes, not.

IT'S ALL IN WHAT YOU LIKE, not what everyone else says.

Build on BRO...It'll be sweet, cause you're doing it.

I don't know if there is such a FAQ. Just take it one step at a time, and ask a question when you need to.
1st try to get someone to hook you up with an ad or test for the bike to decide if you want to make it factory spec. Compare with what they have done in the museum. Ask in the Freestyle forum...there are a couple of Skyway sites with loads of Street Beat pics.
Decide which parts you need and/or want and start searching for them on eBay or posting in the 'wanted' section here.
There is a NOS purple Skyway Hot Seat on eBay right now...I'm gonna assume you got a Green Beat, and I personally think purple would be smokin' on it, you don't see too many NOS Hot Seats. You'll probably want to get some Tuff II mags, some Skyway pegs etc. Do a search on eBay for "Skyway", minus the words "luggage, bag, bags, suitcase, bridge, disney". Other than that, do a search for "NOS BMX" and whatever else specific you're looking for and you should be able to find what you need.
Good luck and be sure to post pics.

There's a Street Beat ad in this thread:

If you have a later, '86-'87 two-colour streetbeat, go to Maurice's website , there you will find spec sheets for the '87 streetbeat.
The earlier, '85-'86 single colour streetbeats, (I believe - could be wrong), only came as f&f sets so choice of parts is yours.

wow. thx all. It's a single color green street beat from '85. I think I'm going to go for mostly white with everything else, wheels and all. I'll definately post again if I need anymore help!
