JUst got my hands on an old hutch trickstar. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with what year it is and if its worth anything. The only serial number I could find is a 05. on the rear right drop out. Thanks

Hey 4 fun,
Go to Johan's site, great guy and great info:
http://users.pandora.be/jjrbmx/ although when checking for authenticity, you may not get an answer you like...One of the main tip offs for the Trick Star's is the length of the tob tube frame stander,US hangs out, Asian does not...You can email him as well, amazing resource. Good luck bro~

In addition to the frame platform, if you have the original matching forks, that can help date it. The '84's had no fork pegs. The '85's had small pegs, and no cable guide. '86 and '87 had small pegs and guide. '88's had larger length pegs and a cableguide.

My '84 came with a pro racer fork w/ thin drop-outs and no rear stands or coaster bracket on the frame. I picked it up used from a friend who bought it used in '84 or '85 so I can't say for certain that it was the fork that the frame was paired with from the beginning.
I'm still trying to determine if it's a factory mistake or a factory custom. Some people feel that it was made for a factory rider, others a mistake. I'd love to know for sure. Woody Itson was kind enough to e-mail me back about it when I asked him and he said he only remembered riding one without the rear stands. He said the same as alot people, it's either a mistake or a team bike.
Post a pic of the bike or send the pic to me and I'll post it.
