Hey guys. I just purchased a Suntour 16T frewheel. Got it on the hub, but then found the chain would not fit on it. Sort of sits on top. I'm 99% sure my chain is a 3/32. My old ASC claw worked fine. So I suppose that makes this Suntour freewheel a 1/8". I didn't know old school Suntour's came in that size. What gives? Thanks.

Yes, there was a difference. If I remember correctly, Suntour made both 1/8 and 3/32. I think the 3/32 freewheel would work with 1/8 chains, but the 1/8 freewheel would only work with 1/8 chains.

Its kind of a pain, but you can grind the teeth down a bit to make it fit your chain. I did the same thing before I finally got some cassettes and it worked fine.
One day I'm gonna go on a road trip to some small towns to find some old Suntour freewheels in old bike shops. With enough of those, I might be able to finance a season of racing on E-bay.

Thanks for the info. INdeed I looked at the thickness of the teeth, and it's absolutely a 1/8". CRAP!
