does any one have any suggestions (excluding beating the s--- out of it with a hammer for headset bearing cup install? thanks
Gino
put the bearing cups in the freezer overnight. Then grease the headtube and install the cups quickly, before the warm up.

You could make a simple press out of two 3/8" thick x 2"
outside diameter washers and a threaded 1/2" bolt (longer than headtube) with nut. Tighten with wrench.

hope this helps,
David

LOL! I've been doing that for years on headsets and BB. Never had any problems with them rusting!

Take it to a shop with a headset press but make sure there is not any paint inside the headtube as I have had powder coat split because of this on a frame when you press it in

Make a headset press like David suggested. It will be the best $5 you ever spent. Can be used on bottom brackets, as well. Use a 1/2" x 6" bolt and nut with a stack of appropriate sized washers to fill the space and press against the cups. I use mine all the time without damaging any frame or paint.

Me too. The homebuilt cup press works a charm, and is much less expensive than a Park or a Profile!

If you don't have a Park HHP-1 laying around, then I wholeheartedly agree on the homebuilt cup press. Easily the best $4-$5 bucks you'll ever spend to add a tool to your collection. They work very well.
