Has anyone ever re-routed their front brake cable back through the forks? They are those 80's forks that have a hole in them so that it is like a cable guide.

I am building my Aggressor, and I haven’t tried it yet, but I was wondering how you get it to come out that hole?? You can not exactly rout it in backwards, because the round ball on the end will not pass that size hole....

Thanks,

Stephen

run the brake cable inner wire backwards (fork hole upwards), with the stem off. feed the inner through the bottom of the hollow bolt until it sticks out. install stem. feed outer casing over the inner cable. then pull out the inner wire and feed it through the top like normal......then never pull out the casing !!!!

Duh!

Or even simply feed the out cable backwards up through. And then feed the inner cable as normal, downwards....

Thanks,

Yeah. My 85 Schwinn Freeforms are like that. The forks aren't bad. You can actually pull the whole thing out and still reinstall a new one if you completely remove the forks. The B!TCH is the one that runs through the top tube of the Freeform Z. Not a problem if you use the above mentioned method. If you ever pull the housing all the way out without the inner cable still there though, you can almost forget about ever getting it back in due to the angles of the holes. Looks slick though.

HEY!!! Why are you building the Agressor that I already paid you for???? Or do you have 2 of them???

Just wondering......

Yeah, I got two - that is why you are getting one!

who needs two???

Now if it was an RL-20II - well, you can have more than one!!

On my Pro Freestyle Tour, I pulled the inner cable out, leaving the sleeve in place. I then cut the new outer to length, threaded the new inner (still full length) thru the new sleeve and into the old sleeve starting at the stem. Pulled the inner tight so it butted the old and new sleeves tight together and pulled the whole affair thru in one shot.

Took me about 10 minutes to do the whole thing. Just make sure you keep the tension on the inner so it holds the new and old sleeves together while pulling.
