Can I fit fat tires on skinny rims? Specifically, can I fit a 24x1.75" tire onto a 24x1 3/8" rim?

thanks!

Well, the mtb guys do it, but I'm not sure I would. They may fit (never tried it myself), but unless you're a lightweight rider, I would not run 'em.

I don't think they will fit.

no, different bead diameter.

I am trying a set of Sun CR16 (24x1 3/8) rims. I think these have been replaced with the CR18. I found them at the local bike shop and got a pretty good deal on them. I am running a IRC Siren (24x1.75) up front and a Primo V-Trac (24x1.50) on the rear. I only have 3 Races on this combo so far. I had problems with the tires, both front and rear, rolling off the rim the first time on the track with them. I raised the pressure up to 60 lbs on both, and since I have not had any problems. So far I really like this combo. The tires grip really well. BTW I am a little over 200lbs.
