I have 2 sets of wheels that both have a Haro Freecoaster rear hub. Since I started riding again a couple years ago, I have used this hub. Here's the problem. The second set of wheels I just acquired recently. I don't know how hard or how much the wheels were used. They look to be in excellent condition but there is slack in the freecoaster. Meaning- once you back pedal even just slightly, there is a huge amount of slack when you try to pedal forward again before the hub catches and turns the rear sprocket.
I rode flatland for many moons but always used a coaster brake hub. Only since I started back up have I used a freecoaster and don't know anything about them. This slack becomes a huge problem when trying to ride out of any tricks. Makes me lunge forward and almost slam into the bars every time.
Any tips on where to start to tune it up? I haven't even taken it apart yet for fear of jacking it up more.

I saw something a week ago on this website "flatlandfuel.com" on the Nankai freecoaster hub. Don't know if the guts are similar or work the same way to the hub you have.
Nankai freecoaster hub I never got around to getting an ACS "RL" hub for my bike when I was freestylin' BITD, on my white RL-20-II...still to this day I wonder how that hub worked, or even, what was inside it???

I had the same problem with an Odyssey freecoaster hub i have. The odyssey and haro hubs are made by the same company same guts slightly different shell. this is what odyssey tech department told me and it worked. and hopefully this makes sence as i am not running on alot of sleep right now. take apart the hub completly clean out all the grease from the hub and parts except for the sealed bearings. there are two flat springs that ride on the axle inside the part that the cog threads into. springs that need to be retensioned up. put the hub back together with no grease in the hub at all. the only grease that should be in the hub is the grease thats in the bearings themselves. it works much better now except for alittle bit of noise when coasting. I guess when the hubs are made overseas they pack them with grease so nothing corodes up on the journey here. But odyssey says no grease.

Thanks guys. I'll try that.
DJ,
I did get an email from Sean. I'm in need of 2 sets (one 87 and one 88) but need to double check with him if he has the correct colors for them. I also will need to get a set of 86 FST's for the f/f I just bought from Hand Grenade.
