OK, is it possible to use chain tensioners with a PK?
Obviously w/o using the dropout protectors/washers you will chew the dropouts up.
Is there a tensioner that can be used with the washers?
Here is one idea and let me know what ya think..
Since I have small washers on the inside of my dropouts could I replace them with tensioners that are shaped like a washer and thin enough that it won't take up too much room?
The only drawback that I can think of is the risk of the freewheel hitting the screw on the tensioner.
Please excuse my ignorance but this is my first Aluminum type frame and I am having a heck of a time getting the wheel to stay in the postion that I want w/o the chain being too darn tight.
Thank you!!
David

Atomic Laboratories
They Fit like a glove to them and you can run the rear up with these ,. they are "way better than a spur ,.. we run them with Profiles Cass in the rear,.. never need to do a thing with them,. they unload quick and go right back,. with no moving of them ,, or readjusting moving to speak of...
all season,.

i've never had a P.K. so im not sure how the setup works exactly, but is it possible to mount the se frame washers/adapters on the inside(hubside) facing out of the droput and use a tensioner on the outside of the dropout.

fluxcap. I am gonna try to do just that here in a while. I thought of that this morning after letting the deal rest for a while. Funny how that works.

Vic, could ya email me a pic of those chain tensioners. Atomiclab does not show them on their site.
Thanks to all!

Yea ,the dropout washers on the inside of the frame is not going to work.
Strange how the wheel pulls towards the back of the dropout as I tighten it and then the DARN chain tightens.
Almost like it's supposed to do that. (JK)

redline aluminum chain tensioners work awesome on pk frames. you don't need to use the special "hat" washer with the redline tensioners, and the redlines push against the rear of the dropout with a chunk of aluminum. most chain tensioners use a steel screw or two that dig into the rear of the dropout.

you still need to run thin washers, with large outer diameter, on the inside of the dropouts.
