Hello,
Since my future Skunkwerks-2 GJS will be my first 26 inch project, does anyone have any suggestions for what gearing to use ??? The bike will mostly be ridin on flat terrain out here in the midwest.
Thanks for any suggestions.

depends where you ride, and what your skill level is. i have 26 that i just ride with road group rides. chainring is a 50 teeth and 16 freewheel. maybe start with something small up front like a 45 or 48 and 17 in back.

If you're going to ride it like a single speed MTB, most of SS'ers I know, including me, run a 2:1 gear ratio. like 42/21. I have 36/18 on mt SS MTB.

Good luck.

38/18 is close to a 44/16 on a 20"
Wheel Works
Bill is correct. I have a 15" Redline monocog I was racing. I worked hard on the gearing and wound up with 38/18 with a 26 x 1.95 tire. If I went any stiffer with the gearing I couldn't get the cranks spinning fast enough. If I lightened it up, I felt like I was going over the bars spinning so fast.
EMPI
i run a 20/41 and loving it on my quadzilla
The 26incher
I'm with Empi, I run 41, 20 on my Texas 26" and it works good on the track.

I'm using 39/18 on my SX26 project. Slightly more than a 44/16 on a 20" bike.

18/36 on my Firemans Cruiser...Ive tried 6 different combinations....This is the best for ME
