I'm looking for some advise on what I can do to restore a set of MotoMags.

Wheels are in good shape just look rough.
Has anyone had theirs bead blasted? or Chromed?

Or is there a better alternative.

Thanks!!!!!!

bead blasting well work great, you can sand out any dings or nicks...just feather out neatly...then powder coat or paint . I dont know how well chrome would take on them ...never seen a chrome set ,it would be pritty cool....good luck...

I've restored a pair of motomags that were rough to start with. Just keep sanding them with sandpaper or polishing them with a dremel until they are shiny and smooth. Takes about 12 hours per wheel to get them looking "chrome".

Motomags II's? They will take very well to most aluminum polishes. I have used Blue Magic and Mothers with good results. Plan on each wheel taking well over an hour.

Motomag I's are tougher to polish. I washed my set and polished the sidewalls.

I have powdercoated a set and they look great too.

If you are going for shine, do not beed blast them....it will be next to impossible to polish it back out. Any of the polishes will work, just be ready to sit down with a good movie and soft rags and start polishing!

MM1' weren't polished but, the rough casting was left alone except for the lip....like Randy said.

wait, one more for you. a good hawaiin friend of mine told me to scrub my motomag I's with comet and it would bring back some of the original metal look to it. remember, the I's were a little rougher in material. the motomag II's i cleaned up with the comet worked also, gave a dull look at first -but when you use simichrome and a little elbow grease, man that puppy would shine. i didn't have to pay $150-$200 to get it shiny, did it my self. it pays off when you stare at it all day:) simichrome is not cheap...
