All just trying to sort out a Ripper with sugino 3 piece crank set. But when I tighten the crank with the chain ring on, the crank fouls the frame. I've adjusted the bb spindle to the max to try and throw it out as much as possible, but it just won't have it.
There seems to be either of two problems, the cranks have worn to much and slide onto the bb spindle too much.
Or its not the correct length of bb spindle?
Oh there is a third option, I've no idea what I'm doing as it was 15 years since I had my last BMX in bits
Anyone had this kinda prob before?
Cheers for any help

Is this crank/frame combo something that you've had for some time and that used to work? If so, I think it's possible for the fit to loosen--maybe enough for the spacing to become an issue.
If this is a new combo, it may be that the spindle is too small. Try something a cm, or so longer. If you don't care about looks, you can dimple the chainstay, and/or grind some material off the crank, but that's best saved for a daily rider/thrasher

Its something I picked off ebay, so I've no idea if it ever worked?
I was thinking of making up some shims of something to replace the wear in the cranks, see if that would give me the spacing back.
I'm also going to pop down the shops to see if they do longer spindles

A longer spindle is the way to go, Ill bet your local shop has one.. as long as they are somewhat old school, heck I probably have a couple here at the house!! Just take the old one with you to match it up
