I just scored a pair of Motomag IIs(see my post in OS talk), and they need a little help. No cracks, but the finish is dull, dingy/dirty/greasy, and looks like they may have some house paint drips.
What's the best stuff to use to clean w/o damaging the original finish? Were these clearcoated or are they raw? I don't want to polish to a fine shine, but restore the burnished look.
Thanks,
Bill Nicholson

Good find Bill....there was no anodize or clearcoat from the factory. If they are just dull, any aluminum polish, soft rags and a couple of hours of elbow grease will bring them back. If you bead blast them, they will look good but it will kill the original finish.

I have had two sets bead polished. they come out shiney but not mirrored. they look great. Both sets did have some type of finish/clearcoat on the metal and it took an application of aircraft paint stripper to remove it.
