I used JB Weld to rework the drop outs on my PK Ripper. I used the Weld that I believe is good for 400+ degrees.
Will I be OK when I have the frame powdercoated?
I dobn't want the stuff to blister and I thought that I had read an old post where someone else used JB Weld.
If anyone has an opinion on this I would really appreciate it!!
Thanks!

I remember an ebay ad for a JMC fork that somebody had drilled holes in the tabs for safety wire. The seller filled the holes with JB weld and the forks were stripped raw and advertised as ready for powdercoat. Maybe that's what you remember.
Perhaps you could experiment on a tin can and put it the oven and see what happens. Just a thought

Depending on how the frame is prepped. But I would say it will be noticeable. A friend did that to his powder coated wheels for his car because of the porosity in the casting. When he got his wheels back two of the four blistered or lifted. Had to end up welding the tiny pin holes and polished down for a smooth finish. I think the only way is to just have the local welder fill it and have a polisher smooth it out for you. You will be able to sleep better at night knowing that the job was done correctly. If you use the jb weld you are at the peak of heat performance JB suppose to hold up to but you never know. Ever heard the saying. If you had a leaky roof you wouldn't put paper over it then plywood and seal all the ends with roofing tar would ya.
M I C K E Y M O U S E.Shall we sing it again LOL Just kidding. Just making sure with my suggestion that extra work is not up your alley.Do it right the first time and your good. You can try the JB method but if it doesn't work.I'm sure sand blasting the powder off and recoating it after you repair it properly the welder way will cost more than having it done right the first time.
