Does anyone out there know of a product that will help remove the white oxidation from an aluminium frame and if anybody supplies a touch up product for red colour anodising.

ligbee.

The only way to touch up is re-anodize.

The white stuff is corrosion and the alloy underneath has been etched by it permanantly. You would have to polish it to remove it and that will remove the anodizing.

I might attempt reanodising but the bike has a red top tube, down tube, post tube and rear tubes with natural bottom bracket, head set tube and drop outs. Tricky eh?.

Ligbee- are you sure it's anodizing? Lots of companies used clear candy colored paint or powdercoat on polished frames to get that half paint/half polished look. That sounds like what you're describing. It's pretty tough to anodize half of something and have it come out looking nice.

ligbee- is your frame welded or bonded together? if it's bonded i don't think i'd strip and re-anodize the whole frame. the bonds probably wouldn't survive that.

what kind of frame is it?
ligbee
The frame is a Vitus bonded frame which is in good overall condition but has a few scratches on the rear tubes which would'nt be as noticeable if touched up somehow.

ligbee, you can "touch up" the anodize but, it would be extremely hard to get the red color a close match at all. and the cost would be high^^^ !!! i would love to see pics of your frame.
