DR. OLD SCHOOL BMX
I got a Floval flyer that has no canti mounts but has the U-brake mount behind the bottom bracket as well as the caliper brake mount behind the integrated seat clamp. Can anyone please tell me what year SE started making floval's with the U-brake mount? As alway's thanks for any help.

After 1985 I believe and until 1996 when they added canti posts.

Anyone know when they invented the Odyssy Pit Bull brake? That will answer your question as to when the brake boss was added...

i think the pitbull showed up around 88/89.

i'm not sure about other SE models, but i had a 91 quad with just the caliper mount on the seatstays, and i have a 94 with the pitbull mount. so with the quad, at least, the pitbull mount came out somewhere between those years.

i will add, however, that during that period when our shop tried to order quads SE told us they only made quads "when they had extra time" between mostly building frames for other companies, so there may not be much consistency to use them as a reference...

They stopped building steel Quads about 1989 according to Mike Devitt.

This was the time line that Mike could remember. All dates are rough...

There were three distinct versions of the Quadangle. There were minor changes but essentially there was only three major frame styles.

1st generation - looptail 1980 to 1983 (Just under 1,000 were built, first 200 were mild steel.) The first frames were built by Accessories Plus and then Trophy Products.(The last 200 were refused because they were all crooked, at this point, production was brought in-house and they changed the back end going with the Reynolds tubing.)

2nd generation - Reynolds 531 Quad 1983 to mid 1984 (All Quads during this time frame were Reynolds tubing), built in Signal Hill

3rd Generation - Mid 1984 this style included the Freestyle Quad, (they switched to chromoly at this time because they couldn't get the Reynolds tubing.)

(2nd and 3rd were identical except the tube sets)

4th generation - 4130 Quad - We will say later on. Mike Devitt couldn't remember exactly when they started building them. He is going to check

They stopped building steel Quadangles around 1989
