I just found this site a few days ago and it has inspired me to restore my old BMX. I have an old Hutch from '84 or '85. I went to the local bike shop and got some Quick Glo to revive the chrome. It works great but I am getting swirl marks on the finish. Is this normal? I'm not too worried about it but I thought you guys might have some insight. Thanks!

welcome to the site. How gritty is the stuff you're using to polish that frame. Chrome will scratch pretty easliy, you have to be carefull what you rub on it........

The polish does have a slightly gritty texture to it. I had previously used Blue Magic and had decent results but it was tough to get the worst parts off using it. The bike is in decent shape but some parts are worse than others.

J.Scott, Quick Glo works great to revive old rusty chrome, but if you use too much it will leave the swirls. Were you using a dry rag with the Quick Glo? If you were you may have scrached the chrome, you always need to use a damp towel or rag with the stuff, but it works great. Take a damp clean rag and go over the area like you're polishing it, then take a dry towel and polish the it until you can see yourself in the chrome. Shouldn't take too long.
Hope this helps and welcome to the site.

I've found that the Quick Glo as a rough cut and MAAS polish as a fine finisher produces a KILLER shine.
QG on a toothbrush around the welds and hard to get to areas, and a light going over with QG and a rag everywhere else. Follow up with the MAAS polish to finish the job (pun intended).
MAAS can be found at the grocery store with the Brasso and other stuff like that.
