I have a GT Mallet stem and the cap is all dinged and dented up, is there anyway of restoring it at all. Any kind of fillers for alloy, or should I file it down a bit? Thanks for any advice. Peace

If you're going to paint or powdercoat it you can add weld where the dings are and file them back down. It's time consuming but it works.

alloy is pretty soft....you can have it polished..I had hammer marks taken out of 3 pc cranks....they came out perfectly....Mux..

Ive often wondered if you can take the shaft out of a tufneck - they seem to be stuck in there pretty well – i've got a couple that could use re-annodizing...

I'll try to get a pic of the stem up just for a laugh. I have another one in the mail right now that is in way better condition so I will wait and put that one on my project. Thanks for the advice guys. I was thinking of filing it down a bit then a good powdercoating.
