What color decals were on the white Darrell Young frames and forks? I seem to remember chrome stickers on some of them. Were they all like this? I am restoring mine to it's original white and would like to re-sticker it. Also, does anybody have a set that would go on it? I have a complete NOS set for a red one(clear sticker with white letters}. Maybe a trade? LMK

I only remember the chrome panel/red letter stickers on the white frames. My chrome frame came with two chrome/red stickers and two clear/white ones when I bought it in '84 and it should have come w/ four chrome/red. I'm not sure why it came that way, it must have been a mistake. I still have the originals, they're stuck on a mirror at my parents house . Back in the eighties, most of the local riders in my area didn't use their Darrell Young Design stickers. They either left their frame stickerless (that's what I did) or put regular JMC RACING stickers on their frames. I know I'll probably get slammed for saying this and I love my DY to death, but those DARRELL YOUNG DECALS were kinda ugly(!). Well, back in the day I thought they were ugly. I have them on my bike now .
As for finding some for your bike, you might want to contact Jim Melton. He should be able to help you.

Yeah, Jim will hook you up.
I had an Andy Patterson that I ran with just the head tube decal. I didn't think those chrome signature stickers looked very good on a white frame. I still have the original signature stickers, but when I restore my bike they will not be on it.

Hey check out Greg "Big Daddy" Folk's 1985 DY in the museum. The stickers on it are clear with red lettering and it changes the whole look of the bike, very very nice!!! I agree, the chrome on white just doesn't go right, clear is the way to go.

I have the correct nos decals for it. I don't think Jim has the correct 1 piece frame decal for the downtube. Look at my white one that I had in the museum. Email me and I can make you a killer deal on them or any other JMC deal set. Also what time is the stuff going to start in Columbus? I may swing by.

Hey PK, you're almost right.
The decals on my white one were custom made die cuts without clear backing. Like Cornfed, I never dug the way the signature JMC model frame decals looked, so I tried to clean the look up a bit. I know they are not "original" or "correct", but they get the message across and do look a lot cleaner.
Shankman, like Mark says, I've also got about ten sets of chrome/red one-piece DY frame decals and tons of fork decals also that I can hook you up with if you need.
