I've been collecting for awhile but I'm relatively new to this site and new to "real" restoration work. This topic has come up several times but is kind of all over the board in several posts. I was thinking maybe it'd be worthwhile if some of the experienced So. Calif. guys can recommend shops out here for resto work so that this single thread will be a kind of "phone book" for this sort of thing in the future.

So recommended shops for...
1. chrome plating
2. chrome polishing
3. powdercoating
4. anodizing
5. frame/metal repair (dropouts, stripped threads, dents etc)
6. aluminum work; high polish, polish, burnish

thanks!
Randy
Tricktracey in Oregon has a plating and anodizing connection, I have two bikes there right now.

<<<One of our site sponsors to the left here is Prizm Powder Coating. They have an awesome reputation and come well recomended by the CEO of this website.

Many other users including myself have found great local shops for our Powder Coating. Look in the phone book, ask around at the local Harley shops, those guys will know the best shops around you for all of these needs.

Randy,

About how much $$ are they chargin to nickel plate a frame in Oregon?

I'm restoring a Decoster right now and am on the fence as to whether or not to replate. I've done some work with the existing plating and it looks pretty good, but it's not perfect. As long as I'm doing it, I may want to do it right.

sorry to cut in Randy,,, you need to update your email phone book thing.haha. my addres is --

and yes,, the cost on nickel is about 80.00 for a frame,,
give or take,,
chrome is alittle more,, to polish a alloy frame is about 80.00 ...guy's think of the man hours and the effort that goes into holding a frame at the polish wheel for along time ..
anodize is between 40.00 - 45.00 for a bunch of stuf per color. if you only have one or a few things to anodize , i will run them with anouther batch if you are not in a hurry,,,you do not need to strip the old anodizing off, that will be done here..return is less than a week if i dont have to do any prep work on it..
and for the nickel or chrome just send me the old nasty rusted frame or whatever,, and you will not belive what you get back,,,i need to get a digital camera to show off the work ,,,sweet.
trickola dudes...

Randy and Tracy,

Thanks for the info. Tracy, I may be getting with you in the next month or so. I'm still reeling from the tax bill I have to pay next month, but things are shaping up.
