can anyone post a pic of the different araya rims side-by-side so the rest of us less-than-knowledged people can identify what we actually have? and which ones looked just like the ukai shineyside rims? thanks.

In the parts area of the museum there is a pic of a 7b rim....

How many different styles of Arayas are there? I have seen a few different kind. Is there anyway of identifing the styles, some kind of marking as such?

7B had a hump with a very small side wall because it was pre caliper brake

7C had no hump and a larger side wall

7X had a larger side wall and a very little step rather than a hump

there are many other versions of ARAYA rims. If you post a picture its easier to identify what you have

Here are 3 different aayas from the early to mid 80s. Sorry, I don't have a 7B, they kinda look like they have a camel hump in the middle of them.

top black...7X- Very Squared corners, ridged in the middle
middle blue..7C-softer corners, no rigde
bottom black...Aero- Very rounded.

i have a set of araya aero double-walls just like cameron described, currently laced to oldschool gt mowhawk hubs. i know these are oldschool cause they came of my friends pr-200 in 86-87 or so. he had the bike way before then, thats just when i got the wheels from him. still no actual id help though. just wanted to confirm that cameron isnt loco or anything, no offence cam.....

There was also a 7L rim. Looked kind of like a 7B except the hump in the middle wasn't as large as the 7B. They came stock on the mid 1985 Schwinn Black Shadows.

if you wanna be real fussy, the aero was known as the adx-7w.....
