I'm just a sponge here. Thanks for the Bill , d_g and all.

I had a '80 supergoose before all this began and it's still an '80 supergoose.....that's 'cause I learned from this site what to look for before I bought it.

The white frame in my picture is an '80 team...the new white powder process did not kill the little bit of blue that was left inside the bottom bracket.

i wonder why you went with white? i love the candy blue!! white is not an official team goose color and could cause the rear frame tubes to actually convert themselves to mild steel.

Yeah I know. Blue and red were the only team colors. I bought this frame sight unseen as a white mongoose but, was pleasantly surprised when I got it to discover it was a former blue team frame.

I like the candy blue too. I got my first candy blue mongoose Friday. It's a blue '80 moosegoose frame/fork...rumor has it it's never been completly built. I know it's never had brakes installed. The finish is in excellent shape....just some shelfware and blue loss on the dropouts. The decals are almost mint. It's going to be a sweet buildup.

congrats on the blue team!! where did you pic that rascal up? man, send me some pics of that bad boy!

No...the white one is a former blue team.
The blue one I just got is a moose. It's from our own beloved Cash. I'll send you some pics.

The FMF frame Id was great Bill. If you are going to do one for supergooses/mongooses perhaps they could be permantley put in their own section in the museum or someone under Frames ID for easy future reference. Just a thought. I should have put this in the suggestion section.

Too much information. My head hurts!

Bill, I also thought Team bikes were only blue or red. I have an '81 brochure that lists those as the only choices. However, in 8/82 BMXA tested a chrome Team Mongoose. In BMXA's spec section, finishes available include chrome, red, and blue. Under price, it states that "chrome may be higher."

Maybe chrome was a later option?
daddy goose
can you post a pic of that?
davemutt
Sorry, I don't have a scanner. Maybe someone else can? (BMXA 8/82). The frame has the stepped dropout w/ holes like Bill's picture above.

I did some more digging and found a Mongoose ad from 10/82. In part it reads:

Supergoose-2 color combos
COLOR OPTIONS: Frame and Fork in chrome with either red or blue components.
Team Mongoose-4 color combos
COLOR OPTIONS: Frame and fork in chrome with either red or blue components, or frame and fork in red or blue with matching components.

So in '82 anyways, a red or blue chrome-moly frame is a Team Mongoose, but a chrome chrome-moly frame could be either a Team Mongoose or a Supergoose. I don't know how you'd distinguish without the decals.
