does anyone know the actual name for the finish Hutch called "futuristic black"? i've got a new school F/S frame that needs new paint- and i'm toying with the idea of that finish- but don't know what i should be asking the powdercoaters for to see if they can do it. thanks-chris

You need to find the one on Ebay sold recently for a good photo. Maybe someone can post a photo of it. I did not keep it. A good friend of mine had one and it was 3D. Textured, but hard to scratch.

i've actually got a NOS trickstar in that color. i'm just trying to avoid having to travel around to a bunch of painters with it only to find out they can't do it. i'd rather call around first.

It is called silver vein and is available from Cardinal or Tiger Drylac , your local powdercoater will work with one of those two, usually not both though.

Also available in Red Blue and Gold. 3 step process so it is expensive, I think $35 a pound was what i was quoted last.

Have a great day!!!!

Does anyone know of a place that does brass or gold plating?
Kathy
BMXfan, your not too far away, so you may want to try Georgia Custom Gold. Check out their website at Georgiacustomgold.com. They do gold and chrome plating. 770-739-4144 ask for Maxine. Mr. Bainbridge said she is really nice and they treated him like they want the business. They have never done a bike frame before and the price they quoted for chrome was really high. He told her that the price was a bit high and she explained that she just wasn't familiar with doing a bike frame and that she would look into it and call back. Much to my surprise she actually called back about an hour later with a much more reasonable price. My husband is going to drop a frame off to them this week to make up for his bad christmas presents( as usual!!!) I'll let you know how it turns out......Kathy

My Phase 2 cruiser is the futuristic color, but I had mine done before Hutch offered it. My powder coater is the best, after so many years, I'm still using them. http://www.powdertechplus.com/ Ask for Richard.

Hey, I emailed those guys for an estimate a while back. They quoted me $175 for a frame/fork done in plain white(still have the email, i think). Their work looks really good, and I was willing to send them my stuff but the quote was high ...a lot higher than stated on their quote page for just a frame.

Byron - What does it normally cost you? thanks - rick

The name for it starts with hammer, I can't remember the proper term.

in the UK I usually pay £40 for standard solid colours, or £60 for Candy colours - so I guess $100 - $140 in your currency wink.gif that includes all stripping, paint, decals etc and prep work !!
