probably not a big deal to you old pros but i am pretty stoked. one step closer...
agentheinz
I'm stoked EVERY time I grab a new goodie!
crowdaddy
What are those?
agentheinz
I was wondering too---look like a later Forklifter, maybe early mid-school era.
crowdaddy
I wouldn't mind running them on my newschool ride.
bmxmom
they are strut bars. i like them. i guess i probably should have posted in midschool.
Pauly
I think you have enough parts for 2 or 3 bikes now eh? I want to see some pictures of how the build is going!

Congrats Mom! Yeah, Peregrine Strut "Sliver" bars from early 90's. Looking good!
bmxmom
been hunting for them since the history lesson timo. thanks!
bmxmom

forman
Hey mom ,, SHOW US SOME GOODS,,

oh pretties...

i kind of hesitate posting pics because i have seen people torn apart before for not doing things "correctly" and i don't know what i am doing.

this is my first build. i have no one here helping me figure things out but i have driven a lot of folks crazy pmming with questions though.
bmxmom
willl you guys be gentle?
donvader
Sure, let's see more!
bmxmom
ok. be gentle with me. sorry the pics aren't better. took them with my phone.

i am planning on all black brakes and levers. need to swap out the headset. need a new bottom bracket that will work with those cranks. the cranks are the original 180s off my cruiser that are too long but will work until i can get ones that fit. the cages are purple under the white and need to be stripped. getting black mags. oh and a chain. i think that is everything... is it?

also have been told i might be able to find some decals that might go better than the original red ones or have some made. need to do a little clean up on a few rusty spots the f/f.

i put thank yous in the positive forum but a huge thanks again to pauly, brian p, bedlam bikes and paul springer. the rest, except for the stem, are ebay purchases.

agentheinz
That's gonna look niiiice...
donvader
Shiny! That should look really cool when it's all together. With mags too!!! Mags rule!
Pauly
Nice! Now start slapping some parts together!

Dani, I see the ingredients for an awesome looking bike!

I see you have an upper gyro cable so are you going to use a gyro or just plain straight cables? The stem seem to be equipped Rotor-ready too so a rotor would be cool and less time consuming to assemble/adjust but obviously will set the bars higher too. Howbout pegs, have plans for them?

Black brakes.. could be something like Dia Compe 990's for rear and Nippon/Bulldog for front? ..Can't really see whether the forks too have u-brake mounts or not, if they do, then black FS990's, polished amuminum (aka "silver") woudn't look too bad either.
Black Tuff wheels for sure! But also some chrome 48 spoke wheels would look nice too. The good thing is, if you have front & rear u-brakes, they will have plenty of stopping power on mags.

That's going to look killer!

thanks guys!

hey timo! i got that gyro cable cheap a while ago (i flaked and missed the auction end for the lower one). i was thinking i would put one on but thought i would wait until later. i am not sure. that was also before i got that stem (a nice purchase from stained skin tattoo bmxer).

hmmm i guess i had not thought about pegs...

but really, i don't need the gyro/rotor or pegs at this point. i mean i won't be doing anything other than just riding the bike. i am a wide old lady with two bad knees (thanks for the second one bus driver...) but i love riding.

i have been wanting to ride at one of the many skate parks around here since i came back from rockford two years ago. i talked to my son about that and he laughed but told me which park i should try first. i don't have anyone to ride with and didn't want to try it on my cruiser so i still haven't gone. when i get this bike finished, even if i go alone, i am going to check out the small bowl-type park he suggested.

lol pauly! i just got the bars so until recently i didn't have anything to put together. i have been waiting on cranks but just found out that isn't going to happen so i am going to get a bottom bracket instead. since i have to carry the frame on my bike to a shop, when i get the bb, i will get that swapped out and the headset put in. i am waiting to do it in one trip.

next item on the list is a bb
bmxmom
ok i need some advice here. just found out the mags i was going to buy are gone sooooo...

when i started on this thing i bought some purple hubs, before i got the lavender stuff. they are anno but are more the blue purple rather than violet purple that you usually see. i decided not to use those because of the color and also because it was going to be more expensive to build the wheels than get the mags.

so should i use those to build some wheels or find some other mags or start from scratch with different hubs?
forman
Alright MOM,,,looks like a good start,, do you like tuffs,,
bmxmom
yes i do
