To me, that is what its all about. Getting together with your buds, having fun and getting a few new scars to show for it.

Voelker is amazing
RIDE A BIKE
That was SWEET!
COASTY
By far some of the best vids I've seen on youtube.
Thanks heaps.

Wow! Krt deserves many thanks for posting all this great vids on youtube... things I only ever say in the magazines but not in moving pictures.

This video is so great.. Craig Campbell doing a 540 wall-ride, Mike Golden jumping over the car, Voelkers insane wall-rides, Todd Anderson riding with a cast, Vic Murphy pre-dirtbros, Scott Towne getting second... good stuff. Amazing how good and smooth RL was on street.
Jeff S
Craig Campbell with the 360 wall ride was nice!

I will have to start posting some videos on youtube.

Cool. I still have that comp on video tape, i think it was in the 2Hip '87 tour video, which consists of mostly ramp footage. Used to watch the tape over and over. Got to love the Vander crash-to-headplant and Voelker's insane wall rides
King of Pipeline
sort of behind the scenes...that is a great video...one of the best of the day..still great.. always will be.. Veolker was a notch about everybody else..
agentheinz
That was awesome! Thanx!

That was one of the most fun days of BMX I've ever experienced. Ron W rules for putting together.

The one thing I was surprised in that video was that no one was wearing helmets. I mean I saw a few guys (Vander and Voelker to name two) that really seemed to hit their heads pretty hard. Surprising considering this was still the 80's.

Awsome video though!

That last bail that Voelker had scared me. He almost busted his head. eek.

I remember that contest from all of the magazines. I think it was featured in a bunch of them. I always wondered why they never made a video of it. It was cool to see the video, after just seeing it in pics all of these years.

We used to do some of that riding on abandoned cars, it was pretty fun.

Praise The Lord!! He rules!
Krt Schmidt
Thanks! I knew this one was a real gem when I dusted it off and popped in the VCR!

Make sure you check out the weird and wacky Challege Of The Flatlanders if you haven't already. I could watch that over and over again!!

More to come!!

My shop is in Santee, a half a mile from that spot. The bank to wall is still there, but doesn't get ridden much anymore.
King of Pipeline
That would be sweet to hit that wall just for legendary purposes.. Get a pic of it and post it.. Let's see how it looks today...

Its funny, someone was talking about how it was weird that this comp was in the 80's, as no one was wearing helmets and uniforms. I was thinking that Wilkerson's own contests, and then his unfortunte crash at the AFA finals (not coincidentally the very last AFA ramp contest) pretty much killed the AFA. So if you don't like where freestyle went in the 90's, blame him. : )

But I think of this comp as one of the very first modern contests. Hard to believe that next year it will have been 20 years (?!) ago....

D, Yeah thats what I mean.. if anyone could attest the reason one should wear a helmet, it would be Wilkerson, lol. Especially for that kind of contest.

Man, I cant believe it was 19 years ago either.
