I'm pretty sure I have an old hutch ad around I can scan, let me see what I can come up with when I get home this evening.

Thanks Brian,Thanks Jay.

Those last two hi-caliber ads look so bootleg. It's sad to see what happened three years after Hutch's entry into the freestyle arena.

Yeah, James, I know what you're sayin'. Funny thing about those though; I don't remember seeing---then OR now---the spiders, stems etc. in all those colors! How about the 48s with the pink spokes? Now the question is, where did all that stuff GO? Hmmm?

That ad is pretty rare, I only have it in one of my mags

There is your complete Trick Star (for the nonbelievers)

That poor trickstar...

Hi caliber= crap of all crap, the worst being the "lookalike" beartrap pedals.

Its funny cause even the ads look cheap
Bedlam Bikes
The most amazing thing is the green tires, pedals, brakes and stem. That green doesnt even come close to matching any framesets sold by Hutch.

Oh - and the brakes were the worst of the worst.

Anyone can miss with a product.. it happens, but the whole line?
It almost seems like they tried to make the stuff as unappealing as possible. Even the seatclamp which was one of their coolest looking and most simple designs was ruined by making a few very minor changes to it.

The end was nigh. What was happening was that the BMX/Freestyle boom was dying, and so was Hutch. So many companies were churning out imported entry-level bikes at low prices, to try to get into the mass market and boost profits. Kids were starting to spend less and less money on bikes---the core riders were dropping out of the scene; going to college and working. And younger kids were more into Nintendo and that kind of stuff, or maybe skating still (even though it too was going underground). Hutch tried to use their name recognition to market more affordable parts---made overseas of course---to make up for the waning sales of the high end stuff. We all know what happened next. Hutches sold in Western Auto and department stores. And not long after that; the end.

I personally always dug the Hi-Cal pedals, and the Trick Top seats...

didnt Hutch do a candy green Trick Star ?? I think it may have been a one off for Woody...

I cant believe where it went either. From so cool to just plain bad.
