Full Version: The Ugliest New bike Ever!
VintageBMX.com > VintageBMX Talk > Freestyle BMX
Hand Grenade
Hi Folks, I thought I'd drop in and have you all take a look at my new bike. I sold my 37 pound, 2004 Macneil on the bay and threw in some extra cash to build my new park bike. 2007 Pantera II, with a twist from a sticker guy in Hong Kong.
This one weighs in at 27.1 pounds which isn't bad fo a bike with no TI and four pegs, 2 brakes. The color is horrible and I couldn't get the right color parts, so this is what I ended up with.
Since I've spent the last 15 years riding almost 40 pound bikes, this one is going to take a little getting used to!
Go ahead, laugh it up, this is one ugly bike.

All new everything. Feels a little squirrley.
FreeEnterprise
no laughing here. I like it. are those jive handles?
Hand Grenade
Grips? Those are shadow, I'll be changing those to blue, when I get the chance. I really like the Fly One Bolt Cranks and the new Proper stuff, the hubs are slick.
Smokin Endo
I don't know about everyone else but I love to see new school bikes with some old school flavor ! Nice build ! Sometimes we see these KILLER full on Freestyle machines that we all know will never be ridden and You know with this bike that's not the case... Ride On

and it's not ugly at all !

That's not ugly. THIS is ugly.

Fit Edwin, Geisha freecoaster, Odyssey fork and bars, etc.
jesboogie
I like your new scoot HG. It takes a tough man to ride a tender purple bike

how are the shadow conspiracy grips? thinkin of orderin some. diggin the colour.
Hand Grenade
Hahaha, yeah-That's what the guys said at the shop.. They said "You're a big enough guy to ride something that color"....
Roman's bike is definately not pretty...lol

I figured for the cash this cost, it HAD to have Old School decals on it. Kuwahara was sentimental to me because I rode one in '81. Black KZ-1 with Tuff Wheel ones, in Red. Man that bike was cool.
This one went to the skatepark last night and is already scratched.

No, the ugly bikes are the ones that are the color of....somewhere between cold coffee (you know, where the cream gets funny on top) and snot. Like mine:
agentheinz
I'll sum it up: ALL new bikes are ugly! They just don't make 'em like they used to! Like, where's the CHROME? It's a rarity these days.
crowdaddy
Eastern keeps saying that chrome parts are coming soon. A couple guys on the board have one on order but we've been playin the waiting game. thanks for being patient guys.

Ive been trying to add a little flavor to my new school scoot, its starting to come along.
agentheinz
Heh heh...I'm actually in FL, Bill Sympson flowed me the Faction swag when we was hangin' out at Rockford last year...We're kinda like sticker junkies. (also see the seatpost sticker---one of Bill's)
unfitskip
all nice looking bikes imo cause they're riders!
crowdaddy
Hey WV. If those are Drive forks check out your steerer tube real well. A little 90 pound kid just snapped his here a few weeks ago. It looked like it was machined off center and the tube was really thin on one side. Just don't want you to get hurt.

Later,
Jeff

Oh Yeah, RIDERS ROCK!!
BOB-O
alot of newer bikes and parts are coming in the old school colors..they must have the bug or not selling alot of the same old looking bikes....lol
Mike Corvin
Ugly? I don't know - at just over 27 pounds, I think I could tolerate the looks...
pwh4130
I don't have any pics of my ugly bikes but this one looked pretty sweet to me.

[Eek!]
Spicoli
I like ugly riders nice to see the colors coming back, I still cant ride my pink bike w/o my kids, and all the kidz in the hood drillin on me

Brett, your bike does look sweet, but the chics are lookin ruff...I'd be puttin a new seat on that one...
Chevron Envy
Wow, those chicks have some serious graveyard tan going on. That's unhealthy - was it cold that day, there are no leaves on the trees in the background but they seem unfazed.

Goth chicks scare me.
pwh4130
Yeah, it was really cold.

I once has a Caterpillar Yellow frame, royal blue forks, flat black bars, white brakes, red rims and pegs and was told I had the ugliest bike ever. Sorry I have no pictures.

For a while in the early '90s I was riding a half pink, half chrome MCS Styler (with the lower chainstays hacksawed off), with white GT Performer knockoff bars, a purple GT layback, a single green Tuff II (front), a rear 48, and one orange Tioga Comp ST. I don't remember what the other parts were—but does it matter?
serva
Hand grenade.....it just needs some fluro green tyres to tone it down...
agentheinz
My Trick Star BITD started off looking pretty nice---white with white Tuffs, lavender tires, grips, brakes, seat etc. Swapped out the Tuffs for some bright orange painted Arayas I bought at the LBS. Kept the lavender tires. It just got worse from there. Blue Haro numberplate, lots of stickers---FS, skate and punk bands.
JIMBO420
Real men ride pink bikes
FLYBIKES "SPANISH FLY"
Wheelie Nelson
I just picked up a Ruben frame from Empire last week.
It's going to get chromed so I told Tom to just give me the least popular color they have.

Yep, that's the one he gave me.

And that "Kuwahara" ain't ugly at all.
